I'm loving the BT306 for what you pay it has everything and the BT works really well, wish I could say the same for the much more expensive Sony HU it replaced
AJ's Land Rover Discovery 1
Had never seen the JRW 14:1 before, love it... exactly what I want for the tentacle wagon
We've got a Pioneer in the Land Cruiser ute that really needs to be moved to the wagon; luckily both have Pioneer units, so that does make it a bit easier.
Our one sounds like an older version of @Dauntless 's new one, and the Bluetooth is good in that for music etc.
I'd also fitted the KMM-BT306 to the V70. For the feature set and sound, it's quite good value.

This is My go to unit for cheap and just works
Hilarious!
I just went back through the notes I had trying to select a single DIN mechless BT head unit. The three options were -
Alpine UTE-73EBT | JVC KD-X472BT | Kenwood KMM-BT306
The Alpine lost out as no one had stock.

Nice disco. So what's the purpose of raising this one if you have the cruiser?

This isn't broken at the moment
So don't touch it and spend money on the other one obviously. Dailies should be close to stock so you don't need to fuck with them.

Why's that? A daily is something you enjoy using everyday for whatever reason. For some its reliability, for some its the looks, and for some its the feel of the seats against their ass. I daily drove Nathan's Camry when the V70 broke. It was a fantastic car in that it was manual, got 7 litres to 100km, aircon worked and it came with a free Maximum Bass 3 CD but boy did it give me low range depression when sitting inside of it and looking out at all the more interesting cars getting around. Nathan himself warned me this could happen.
So nah, I dont subscribe to "a daily should be a plain jane car just because". A daily should be what you like because you use it everyday so why use something you dont like everyday. That makes no sense.

Raising it? The suspension is stock. The entire vehicle is pretty much stock at the moment. I don't think I've even mentioned lifting it.
Now you've mentioned it though, I think I will. It sounds like a good idea.
Man Ryan you just love ignoring the core point and being aggressive against the point for the sake of it. Hilarious. I said close to stock, my v8 Calais is close to stock, I know if I put a cam and tune in it that it would become an even bigger fuel user without any gain as a daily and probably start fucking up. No thanks, need to carry my wife and three kids around.
I misread at the start of it it seems. Having lifted a disco, without doing the radius arms, it ruins the ride and handling and worsens tyre wear.
How big was the lift?

Hmm maybe. What if it was important to you to have a cammed V8 as your daily? I have a friend who has that exact requirement. I also have another friend who's requirement of a daily is JDM turbo so he gets around in an Evo that has a tune and other mods.
Clearly your requirement is reliable to move the kids around so you have landed on stock, no mods should equal reliable. That's fine too.
Your assessment of what should be the correct daily is not my assessment, or AJ's assessment or anyone else's but your own. There is no core point other than "Alex likes stock and reliable so everyone else should to" in a thread about "AJ's Discovery" that point shouldn't really be taking any precedence because it isn't "Alex's Discovery which he uses to move around his family". You're free to make a thread about your Calais where you can tout the merits of keeping it stock but this is a forum where the majority of people like to tinker and modify so you're kinda missing the point and should be posting on Whirlpool instead if you hate modding so much.
But I don't hate modding cars Ryan, otherwise my 122 wouldn't regularly have Weber related failures. Nor would I have lowered, put bigger brakes, a full exhaust (headers to go on at some point) or have had a stage "1" built and retuned auto installed in the Calais. It's just I know once you go past a certain point it becomes unreliable and then you end up with another daily. Hence why the 740t is in the shed and has been for years, because it's getting more modified.....
Interesting, I'll look into it further. 2" lifts are generally the default replacement suspension height because they tend not to cause any issues. I was under the impression that Land Rover radius arms are very similar in dimensions to Patrol arms, and therefore should be fine with a 2" lift.
I fitted aftermarket radius arms to the Cruiser with the 3" lift, however this was more for guard clearance than castor correction. At least Land Rover arms seem to be significantly cheaper than those.
My dad's Disco is raised somewhere in the 1-2" range. Drives just fine with no un-usual tyre wear.
That's good to know, thanks. Would you happen to know which springs/shocks he's using?
