Isn't it missing the ECU?
And my 850 is unregistered as well, you can transport them with a UVP
Its actually tempting...
No - basically, that list is a list of stuff people are interested in. The car as it stands now is complete, the question is do I part it out or sell it whole. I kind of want the manual conversion kit for an 850 though, and the last time I saw one sell it went for $1000.
Oh I see, well I would buy it complete depending on the price and Id probably catch a cheap as flight up and drive it back haha. And then just scrap my stupid 850 and call it a day because I hate it haha!
Thats true, manual Volvos of any sort do seem hard to come by! I did see a registered manual V70 for sale in Victoria for $1990, if only I had the cash to buy it at the time, I so would have, it was a 7 seater two.

Ive also got my eye on another XC like my blue one, but its an 03 with the 2.5L motor and everything, its an ex lease vehicle I think, its done 360000 kilometres but I just want to use it to drive to uni, to work and to a few other places so I really don't care haha. Thoughts?
thats the best option @JeremyK get that V70T5 they are AWD turbo. thats the only non redblock i would ever own.
sounds like its a decent deal. as soon as you get it, take it to berry and get a full once over!
if you plan to drive it distance. just do an oil/ filter change, just to be on the safe side.
Its a really tempting option!
Yeah I will. If its got a clogged pcv is there anything easy I can do so it wont blow the motor up in a nine hour stint home?
Run with the dipstick up a bit or with it out and a little breather over the top.
no such thing as a V70 T5 AWD... all V70 T5's are fwd.

V70R AWD Yes
V70XC AWD Yes

Okay Ill do that just to be safe!

Ah well Im really not fussed about AWD, apparently the AWD on those early V70s wasn't great anyway.
I looked at both an R and an XC.
The R had a bad cylinder head and that needed replacing, but the car already cost $2000.
The XC had dents all over it, looked maybe vandalised? Or pushed into a wall because there wasn't a single straight panel on it, it was all fixable though, that went for like $750 and I only had $700 at the time and would have needed to pay for towing as well and everything so wasn't worth it :(
Don't bother, drive the xc70 to and from uni, and if you want a car to play with, get a rwd Volvo that is easier to work on and learn on.
I hate driving the XC anywhere other than road trips haha, people can't park and its already been scraped a few times, lucky for plastic bumpers that seem to hide the worst of it.

I did look at a 240 but nah, too old, I even looked at a 760 (the later S90 style model) but nah not my thing yo, I really like wagons, I would take a 240 wagon if it was a GLE and in good nick, otherwise gimme an 850 wagon or a first gen V70 wagon :D :D

Thinking about it there isn't much point in buying a second XC unless I was to use it as a donor vehicle, the only things I can grab from this are the third row seats (mine is a 5 seater) and power fold mirrors, so may as well just wait for a range topper.
Ye can have my V70T when I get the damn R here......
The 6th and 7th seat is only usable for kids and reducing cargo space. Not really much point there. I'm surprised about parking scrapes though, most people are pretty good for that with plastic bumper cars.

There are 740 and 940 wagons which have more load space than you think.... Too old is not an issue as parts are easier to get than an 850/v70 and p2 cars....

Has it been cleared or does it still need to be?
Don't want to have to go through another one of those, the one on mine was so hard, they were stingy on everything!

Yeah I know that I was just making a point haha. I highly doubt Id ever use the third row so I wouldn't bother changing it, this one Im looking at is a 7 seater but no sunroof? My main issue with it is the kilometres on it, do these new volvos go as long as the old ones? Its done 360 and seems ex lease, no logbook.

Where I work people are just hopeless, we have a lot of old people accidentally plant the wrong pedal and write off cars, the other month we had a guy write off four cars in one go. So I tend to try and avoid taking my XC there but at the moment its the only beast Ive got, apart from the 850 which I don't like to talk about lol!

Yeah, Im just so done with 80s cars though, my old car was an 89 and it leaked and burnt everything. Im sure the 240s are reliable but eh, Id prefer something newer, especially when 240s and V70s aren't even that much in price difference anyway.

Plus with uni I don't really have that much time to play around, and the car Id like to play around with is the XC, which ever "second" car I buy will just be a runaround that I don't care about haha.
All clear , wasn't much. Just being pedants and giving each other jobs I think.
Damn NSW and their crap system , all cars from there that have accidents have to have it , ergo , don't buy cars from NSW...

Ah well as long as its clear Im fine with that! Who ever offers me a V70 first for a reasonable price gets the sale lmao. I just need a second car and I'd like a wagon because mum likes them and she'll steal it when I'm not using it haha.

I hate NSW, all their cars now just get stat written off, you can't fix em unless your the current owner. Its so stupid! I saw a V70XC, the first gen one, silver, leather, had like a broken headlight and that was it, nope stat write off, can't fix it, well can't re-register it anyway.
The VIV place is up road from me , every day I see NSW plate cars there , its the Habiby brothers fixing em and sending em here , I am sure it occurs here too.

I thought they just couldn't be fixed no matter what? Cos even if you fix it in another state, the state of which it got written off's rules still apply? Its too confusing haha
The reason 850's are the same price as 240's is the 850s are hitting rock bottom and the 240's are going up because they are a more durable vehicle, nothing like an 89' Telstar. 240's, 740's and 940's are a lot easier to work on than FWD cars are. Mechanics like them more too.
