The dash I pulled out of the parts car is just not good enough to reuse in the project car. It has a couple of broken tabs and lots of internal broken plastic where the fascias fit to it etc.
That puts me in a tricky spot - I did consider leaving the lower dash section and kick panels beige while having an otherwise charcoal interior. I've seen that dash configuration on some of the late C70s before and I dont really mind it.
The next thought that crossed my mind is removing the dash from the car and painting it with vinyl paint, so I grabbed a can of Dupli Colour Vinyl and Fabric Coating in Medium Grey and one in Charcoal Grey and tested both on a beige piece of plastic trim.
Medium Grey is WAY too light and even Charcoal Grey is still too light. I checked this again by painting it on a section of the grey dash from the parts car to see what the match was like. The finish quality is good but the colour still isnt right.
I've ordered a couple more to try -
SEM BMW Satin Black-Grey
SEM Toyota Landcruiser 100 series Dark Grey
Hopefully I can make one of these work.
Other than that, after confirming I could go a little bigger than the 225 35 18 tyre tyre I had fitted, I got the final tyres fitted up to the wheels today -
Wheels are Koya SF05 18x8 and tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 4 in 225 40 18.
