Aftermarket , I like a bit of old skool

What wheels are those Ash ? 18s as well ? Can't zoom in enough .....

I'm a sucker for Volans but that's just me ?

Nice intercooler by the way ?

These are Koya SF05 in 18x8. Fronts are ET42 and rears are ET36 which will somewhat correct the narrower rear track of the FWD cars. They're very light.

Tyre (in the pic) are 225 35 18. I only had a single one fitted so that I can double-check clearances, etc. The tyre in the pic is a Kumho Ecsta PS71. Not sure (yet) if I'll run those or not. I'm not usually a fan of Kumho tyres and Michelin dont do a Pilot Sport 4 in 225 35 18. I'm 99% sure that 225 35 18 is the size I'll go with.

I'm a huge fan of the factory wheels too, though I like Titans the best. I also think that 17s look best on a P80 (except C70s) but brake choice dictates wheel size here.

Fix the Volans up , hang one in each favourite room and get some stronger aftermarket offerings with WIDTH , revel in tyre choice!

I had a Volan as a reel for my garden hose at my old place. lol. Not sure what I'll do with the Volans I have yet. Will likely sell them off.

I like the wheels but I also like the look on this silver P80

The Wheels are similar.

I think these are oem Jaguar wheels but not 100% sure. Dark wheels on a silver car look great though.

Here's a better wheel pic -

My nephew just picked up a set of 19x9 Jaguar wheels for me , tyres included.

Guys dad had them on a long gone car.

Guys name is Rick Kelly.......

Nephew blown away and tried not to be a fanboi!

Ha!

Rick's Dad's wheels!

V70's always look good in black.

Interior is in excellent condition, are the seats a combination of leather, and fabric, or is it two different tones of leather?

Seats in S70/V70 T5 models (like this one) are half leather, half suede. In this case, the seats are really good which is a great shame as I loathe the beige, so they'll get ditched.

Better Rick Kelly than Rick Sanchez

I was supposed to be away this weekend but our son has been unwell so we rescheduled our weekend away and stayed home instead. After not getting too much done yesterday, I spent this afternoon in the shed and had a reasonable few hours working on things.

All the pinstripe double-sided tape remnants and the leftover goop from the weathershields is now gone and after test fitting one of the new wheels, I dropped the rear suspension out of it.

Outer delta link ends/bushes appear ok so they can stay for the moment. Rear shocks were either original or genuine Volvo replacements. My guess is that they were originals.

I got the left side completed and back in the car. New shocks are Bilstein B6 and springs are Eibachs. the bump stop in the RHS is broken, needs a new bump stop and a new retaining clip. Unfortunately, I didnt have any in stock so I'll have to get them before finishing up the RHS.

As I couldn't finish the RHS, I got to work on removing the 3rd row seats.

      A few progress pics -

Wheel fitted to LR. Factory wheel bolts are long enough but I'd like some with smaller heads so that I can be less careful putting wheels on. Wheels are 18x8 ET36 in the rear with 225 35 18 tyre fitted. There is no centre cap for these so I might look at new dust caps so it looks a bit neater.

New spring, new shock and new shock mount fitted.

This is a pretty good pic for some perspective. In its day, the V70 was considered a 'large' car. Here' it is parked next to a modern 'small' car being a current Skoda Octavia RS (which is the common platform with VW Golf and Audi A3).

Quite similar in external dimensions, power output etc, etc.

Nice shed too Ash painted floors big press, air and ample room for 2 cars and to be able to work on them??

It's not too bad. Needs a bit more organising but it's certainly workable. Cheers!

What is available for rear brake upgrade, bigger to fill the wheels not nessessarily stronger.

I'm going to use S60R four spot Brembo rear brakes. Brakes are the only reason for me to go to an 18" wheel.

They fit under 17's with a spacer..... or 17" pegasus wheels fit with no spacer.

Hey mate, you're absolutely correct but the front is actually where brake clearance is going to be an issue.

Not so.... and you can buy AP's if you really want to for 17's without spacers.

Correct. I think CP9300 is the modern replacement for the CP5200 caliper used in the oem Volvo kits. While I'd like an original AP set, simply because they'd be 'period' (a bit like the Ohlins), I'm going to use a different (6 spot) caliper and multi-piece rotor instead.

              8 days later

Big thanks to @TL_V70 for sending me the plain airbox lid, without the 'turbo' raised lettering - very much appreciated.

We picked up the parts car tonight too. It has nearly all of the grey interior parts I'm missing, except for a decent tailgate trim.

              11 days later

It's been a pretty hectic fortnight so I haven't made much progress really.

Yesterday, I fitted the RR suspension back into it. The original bump stop was broken, so that got replaced and it's finally back on its wheels.

I removed some of the odds and ends I wanted from the parts car too and learned that even the inner door handle shell is different between grey interior cars and beige interior cars - I'd originally just assumed it was some sort of neutral colour that could be used across them all.

              Check this out -

and the grey one fitted from the parts car -

I've still got to bond the plastic clips back into the V70R door trims I have here before I can start to swap them back in as well.

The battery from my V70T5 got donated to the V70T parts car so that it could be made easily mobile and driveable in and out of the shed. So, today I bought a new battery and did a quick drive around the block.

Rear suspension in and back on the ground -

It'll likely settle a little more from here and guards will appear a bit more full with the 18" wheels fitted.

Different front to rear I found but same btw all the P80s I had. The bit that holds the cable onto it is so cheap they break on a lot of the ones I had......no way of making it stronger either...
