Nothing really happening yet, other than acquisition and ordering of parts.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on my requests for help regarding fitting an old Alpine head unit into an old Volvo.

See - https://ozvolvo.org/discussion/13842/advice-help-wanted-volvo-p80-v70-to-old-alpine-head-unit-loom-adaptor#latest

Here's the Alpine MD headunit I'm going to use, which I'd bought new in 2001.

If you get a " net Md" player. You can write a gigabyte of music on one disc.

I remember those. I dont have one though.

I've got a Sony MZ-R55 MD walkman and a Sony MDS-JE510 which is part of a cobbled together (but really nice) 90s hi-fi setup I have.

Using native format means that, while I dont get amazing compression with minimal quality loss, all my discs can be played by all my hardware.

You got me looking on ebay

That might be a nice upgrade for you

Ohh , ive got Compomotive 18X9" , got em off a Focus XR5 Turbo Pommy dude who has all the Mounttune stuff and more on it , damn it sounded great when I met up last year some time. Im considering selling them on as I will go back to Volvo rims with 245 wide ( using 265/35 on these on my V60 no problem ) , I just dont trust my gutter avoidance skills in and around the old suburbs of Richmond to not damage em.......

Lemme know if you are keen , I paid too much for em but lemme know anyway....

I think he refinished them himself and its not ideal as no gloss they are hard to keep clean and getting lifting so need repainted which i was considering when i have other rims and tyres to go on. Ill take tyres off unless you really want.

Delete post if not keen. Cherrs.

    18x9 will be a struggle, even at ET50 on a P80 - I've got my doubts about the 18x8.5 Fifteen52 wheels I have here.

Nice, but nostalgia dictates I use the one that I bought way back when! :)

All the more reason to trade me for the oz racing rims :-)

Maybe. Let me try them first though.

Hopefully I'll have them off the car in the coming week or so and I can then move the Focus on and start tinkering with the V70.

Could have dug out a two level sub garage in that place , what were you thinking!

          6 days later

With thanks to @iceton1975 and @volstretch, I've had a pretty successful week or so of parts gathering.

@volstretch sorted me out with grey V70R seats and door trims.

@iceton1975 got my rear brakes organised as I'm going to use P2 S60R/V70R rear brakes.

On a sadder note, the more I do my maths, the more I think that the Fifteen52 tarmac wheels from the Focus are just a bit wide with too aggressive of an offset. I dont think 18x8.5 and ET40 is going to work. I want to run a 225/35/18 and I can't stand even the slightest stretching of tyres.

18x8 and ET42-48 would likely be best.

Anyhoo, the Vocus will go to a new home in a couple of weeks so I'll look at that again soon.

          13 days later

With the Vocus having been picked up this afternoon, I finally got around to giving the V70 a quick wash to better understand what I've got in front of me.

In short, the starting point is decent, it's essentially straight and aside from the terrible top surfaces, the rest of the paint will likely be decent once detailed (by someone other than me).

And despite being beige, the interior is in very good shape. I haven't cleaned it at all - it was well taken care of by the previous owner.

I've never seen these webbed basket storage bin thingos before but I think I'll re-use them in the grey interior swapover.

Mark from VP Tuning/Voldat sorted me out with a heap of grey/charcoal cargo area trims and plastic pieces from an 850R wagon he was parting out, so I picked those up last week as well - it was really good to see both Mark and John again too, so I'm looking forward to becoming a bit more active in the VCOV like I'd been quite a while back.

And here's the rear seats -

If anyone is looking for a complete biege V70T5 interior, please let me know. It'll be cheap.

          rear seats heated?

No. Nor are the fronts. I'm actually not sure we got heated rear seats here.

Looks like it has the estate pack (load cover, load nets in the seat backs and the mess down the side)

I wonder if it has nivomats in the back as well (with the 3rd row I think this is quite possibly).

I had a set of the rear side load nets ages ago , think they got binned unfortunately!

Look at the door cards!!!!! No shrinkage of the vinyl where the arm sits! Wow! ( worth taking them off and glueing them up before they rattle themselves apart , I cant count the amount of glue tubes I put on the backs of the door cards of P80s , helps with sound system too plus some Dynamite here and there.

It did have the load cover, though this was broken when I got the car. I have pieces of it.

              No nivomats though.
