They're throttle bodies from a Suzuki GSXR1000. Were supposed to be from a Hayabusa (GSXR1300) but they're not - the smaller 1000 ITBs are better for a SOHC 2-litre than the 1300 ones, so no problem there.

    Happy days , that'll sound great .

Using up a bunch of Not Great parts on this car. Like this boot hold-down spring that I stretched in the past.

Both window winders are broken. There’s a diecast aluminium bit that the winder shaft presses into, and both of them have broken which disconnects the winders from the cables that pull the windows up and down.

    Solution!

The cable pulls up to the window frame, and then hooks under the aluminium bracket. To lower the window, unhook the cable and it drops down. The end of the cable stops against the window frame when the window is down.

Because the passenger side door trim isn’t going back on, I “simplified” the opening mechanism.

The top rod is for the door lock. It has been cut short and bent to fit through the hole I drilled. This holds it in the unlocked position, so it can’t be locked by accident. If I ever need to lock the door, then it can be unclipped from the plastic and then pushed into the second hole (which is just visible behind the plastic clip).

Pretty pleased with how this worked out, TBH.

$17 Chinabay motorbike mirrors. Really only on this car as an experiment before I bother trying to fit them to something more serious.

      ?

That spoiler was just sooo fitting for the car , stick it back on ?

Some are born to be beautiful...

      ... and some are not.

This was today’s exercise in polishing a turd.

I got inside the rear quarter panels and pushed out some of the dents a bit (as much as I could), then bogged.

Aerosol paint makes it look ok. Less ugly anyway...

This photo was intended to show how wobbly the side of the car still is, but makes it look alright.

      Panel gaps are still awful.

Inspired partly by the way car makers disguise their new models, these graphics are primarily intended to hide how bad the panels are. They look passably ok, which is a bonus.

Got sick of peeling the backing off the adhesive vinyl, so made the triangles larger on the LH side.

And added some on the bonnet to tie it all together visually.

The Daewoo Emblem should be replaced with a Merc Emblem and then put the spoiler back onto it and put "D44 AMG" onto the rear hatch

          No!

I bled the brakes today - not quite right, but good enough to move the car.

Also attached the rear bumper - seems that I may have been lucky that it was still on the car when I got home.

And the clutch is completely rooted. Like “makes a faint clunking noise and the car doesn’t move at all” rooted.

          sigh*

          Took log book photos anyhow.

Currently thinking that I will ignore the car until I am ready to fit the 2-litre and the Quaife box (assuming that I can track it down).

Also getting fucked around on the sale of the now-dead Yaris.

This is soooo funny. My grandparents had one of these for years and my cousin and I joked about putting a hyabusa engine in it. Makes me chuckle every time I get notifications...

Picked up the last of the parts today.

...including the spare wheels that had been dumped behind the shed.

Went full Indiana Jones in the jungle of vines, although a pair of ratcheting secateurs doesn’t have the same visual impact as a machete.

Anyhow, when I got to the bottom of one pile of wheels, I discovered that there was another one buried in the dirt...

When I lifted it out, there was another one, literally entirely below ground level!

Took about ten minutes to dig it out.

Did you keep digging to see if there wasn't yet another one?

I found a set of four, was happy to call it quits.

Three full sets of 15” 4x100 wheels, one Compomotive, and another pair - should be enough.

The pair are going to Paulie for his MX5 rally car, the Compomotive will be sold, and then I have four sets of 15s for two cars.

Got $400 for the Yaris. Pretty good considering it is a repairable write off (due to front damage) AND has hail damage and has a dead motor. I paid $350 for it back in March or April.

$400 is pretty good, I was drunk surfing the interwebs last night and there is a kit to fit one of the FWD toyota camry V6 into the yaris..... makes me sorta want to own a yaris
