No idea if it's good or what they want for it and Saw it on the market previously. May still be helpful though https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/gympie/cars-vans-utes/1998-volvo-v70-t5-4-sp-automatic-4d-wagon/1262613236?utm

Cheers mate, this one comes and goes from Gumtree semi-regularly.

This time around there is no price, last time around it was $6k. I don't think it is a $6k car from the previous pictures but it may very well be. It becomes a chunk more than $6k by the time I'd get it back here though.

I assumed so but thought it was worth a mention. Interstate definitely makes it need to be 1-2k cheaper than the budget. I remember there were some real good deals early covid when nobody could travel but it's pretty nuts atm.

      It is a little.

For me, it can be a pile mechanically, as long as the body is reasonable. I've already got the suspension and a heap of other bits and pieces here waiting for the right car.

I do have to get my act together and get the Focus ready to find a new home so that I have a space for another V70 though.

I actually think I'm onto one!

There was a car that I'd been discussing with the owner before COVID and Victorian lockdowns hit us. That seemed to fall flat after a while with everything in VIC on pause.

The owner and I made contact again over the weekend and I'm going to check it out this coming weekend. Very exciting stuff.

      Excitement!

      What colour?

      Black. :(

      With a sunroof. :(

But, it sounds promising - I like its history. Current owner since it was under 2 years old. Just on 200k and completely stock.

It's amazing how hard they're becoming to come across now.

If it needs a clear coat may as well do a recolour? Tack a new roof panel over the top to be rid of a dangerous sunroof?

        Well , maybe not.

I was happy when I got mine , two owner , 68,000K or so , near perfect manual R , it was RED and I never wanted a RED car! Hahahah.

So yours will be a really nice car to start with!

Followed a V70T6 P3 through Willi this eve , boy do they look good , id have it over the V60 I reckon , the missus S80 is so much more comfortable....

I'll probably really keep the black. I dont have the bodywork contacts that I used to (otherwise I would have more seriously considered buying my old V70 back).

I did wonder how hard it'd really be to do a real carbon roof though. lol.

I have some contacts now doing carbon panels and smaller parts for speedway cars, so it had crossed my mind to ask them.

That is likely getting ahead of myself a little bit and I'll start off by going to have a proper look at it on Saturday if we can get that to work.

I like P3 V70T6 cars too but I just have this soft spot (and a heap of parts) for a P80 so I'm keen just to build one for myself and hang onto it.

I got some 850R Volans a few weeks back so there's another wheel option for the next project.

Well, keep going , in a year or two build one from parts! Haha!

Id be looking for a great body and adapting all into it nowadays .

          That's exactly right.

Finding a T5 is actually quite difficult now but I have been whittling away weird parts that I really like.

Gotta ask , why the sad face with the sunroof ? Is it a strength issue ?

Just a couple of silly things really -

I like the look of the roof without it - visually cleanerI've seen a couple of sunroof rust issues now too (admittedly not many)

That said, my daily is a Skoda Octavia RS wagon and it has the panoramic glass roof.

Years ago was quite heavily into anything VAG , had many mk2 golfs then mk3s , audi quarttros and corrado even persuaded the Mrs to give up the alpha gtv for a tt . My point , at meetings we all give this guy a ribbing about selling his mk2 golf rallye infavor for a Skoda RS ..... Once he took us out in it we kinda understood .

I like it because it's essentially a Mk7 Golf GTI wagon and its manual.

I've had it for about 2 years and it was this or an I30N. I've done very little to it, except for fitting a bigger rear swaybar and the factory option 19" wheels.

It's going to get a set of Eibachs and Bilstein B8s but other than that I'll largely leave it stock and simply drive it until it has a heap of kms on it.

I didnt get to go and have a look at the V70 over the weekend but we have rescheduled to this coming weekend.

Hopefully I'll be able to report back with some pics.

I went and had a look at the V70T5 last weekend and will pick up tomorrow.

Big thanks to @iceton1975 for connecting me with the owners, who have owned it a long time and will have ongoing visitation rights.

Nice, looks like a great starting point. Do you already have something organised for getting it painted?
