Hi all,

I'm on the look out for a project P80 V70T5.

Preferences/wishlist:

Pre 1999 (not essential)Charcoal interior (not essential) Working AC (not essential) Non-sunroof (essential)

Would consider swapping for our 2007 Focus XR5 with cash in either direction, depending on vehicle. Focus could be made available in varying states, depending on what the other party may want

Would also consider an 850R (wagon or sedan). No AWD cars.

If you stumble across one that might be of interest, I'd also be keen to know about it.

Cheers,

Ash

Most definitely. I'm simply keen on building one just for myself, rather than for the purpose of developing parts etc.

A bit more thinking -

Scratch the idea of an 850. I already have V70R front and rear bumpers here and a V70R cluster and a few leftovers from my last P80 V70T5 build. As such, the parts stash dictates that the project must be a V70.

I'm sorta sad that I crushed 3 shells that would have been perfect for you, sure you don't want to do a p2 or p3?

Thats ok. I think you only had C70s though, right?

Definitely want to do another P80 - I just decided that I wanted to build something that I wanted, rather than something to serve as a development piece or to use for photos for fitting guides, etc, etc.

I have a soft spot for P80s. 850Rs are probably best kept for those who will not mess with them too much and simply want an 850R.

a P80 V70 is probably a cheaper starting point and I wont feel bad for bastardising it like I might with an 850R.

PS. While I have your attention, Noel is pretty happy with the XC90 V8. :)

With big thanks to @iceton1975 I may very well be onto one.

My fingers and toes are crossed that it works out. :)

The Rona may have ruined the one I was originally onto but, again, with thanks to @iceton1975 and @volstretch we've hopefully got one organised for me. :)

I think I'm still looking for one. If anyone knows of one available, that would be great.

No idea if it's good or what they want for it and Saw it on the market previously. May still be helpful though https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/gympie/cars-vans-utes/1998-volvo-v70-t5-4-sp-automatic-4d-wagon/1262613236?utm

Cheers mate, this one comes and goes from Gumtree semi-regularly.

This time around there is no price, last time around it was $6k. I don't think it is a $6k car from the previous pictures but it may very well be. It becomes a chunk more than $6k by the time I'd get it back here though.

I assumed so but thought it was worth a mention. Interstate definitely makes it need to be 1-2k cheaper than the budget. I remember there were some real good deals early covid when nobody could travel but it's pretty nuts atm.

        It is a little.

For me, it can be a pile mechanically, as long as the body is reasonable. I've already got the suspension and a heap of other bits and pieces here waiting for the right car.

I do have to get my act together and get the Focus ready to find a new home so that I have a space for another V70 though.

I actually think I'm onto one!

There was a car that I'd been discussing with the owner before COVID and Victorian lockdowns hit us. That seemed to fall flat after a while with everything in VIC on pause.

The owner and I made contact again over the weekend and I'm going to check it out this coming weekend. Very exciting stuff.

        Excitement!

        What colour?

        Black. :(

        With a sunroof. :(

But, it sounds promising - I like its history. Current owner since it was under 2 years old. Just on 200k and completely stock.

It's amazing how hard they're becoming to come across now.

        • rado replied to this.

If it needs a clear coat may as well do a recolour? Tack a new roof panel over the top to be rid of a dangerous sunroof?

          Well , maybe not.

I was happy when I got mine , two owner , 68,000K or so , near perfect manual R , it was RED and I never wanted a RED car! Hahahah.

So yours will be a really nice car to start with!

Followed a V70T6 P3 through Willi this eve , boy do they look good , id have it over the V60 I reckon , the missus S80 is so much more comfortable....

I'll probably really keep the black. I dont have the bodywork contacts that I used to (otherwise I would have more seriously considered buying my old V70 back).

I did wonder how hard it'd really be to do a real carbon roof though. lol.

I have some contacts now doing carbon panels and smaller parts for speedway cars, so it had crossed my mind to ask them.

That is likely getting ahead of myself a little bit and I'll start off by going to have a proper look at it on Saturday if we can get that to work.

I like P3 V70T6 cars too but I just have this soft spot (and a heap of parts) for a P80 so I'm keen just to build one for myself and hang onto it.

I got some 850R Volans a few weeks back so there's another wheel option for the next project.
