jamesinc Forgot to update this thread - we replaced the in-tank pump with a new VDO unit, and I haven't heard anything from @DecimalDuck since, so I imagine that means the car is running nicely :)
He's been driving great, feels very reliable when putting foot on accelerator now. Big change from how it felt to drive with all that hesitation from the in-tank pump being truly dead.
@jamesinc also took it for a test drive to put Ron through his paces, noticed the gears were holding on for too long so he adjusted the kickback.
James also pulled apart the gear selector panel to replace the bulb that lights up my gears at night, bulb was completely smashed to powder (by PO we assume), James always magically has spare bulbs for everything I've needed so far.
We've also taken the time to pull apart the tape deck and find out why it isn't working. There's a little plastic gear that drives the machine head that has absolutely turned to mush over time, so.... We'll figure something out for that. At least I've got radio and a great sound system.
Ron is now finally ready to get his first proper car wash in time for the show and shine at Oz Volvo 2019 nationals this weekend, also going to be using a claybar kit, then Bowden's Own paint cleanse and restore, then BO carnauba wax, maaaaybe finish with afterglow like they suggest as an after-wax-sealant, because my boy does live in the street, so he gets 100% of the sun all summer
