jamesinc Picked up this fuel can for a 240. And now, through the magic of cinema: Next step is to fabricate a bracket to hold it to the wheel. I have something cool planned, just need to find some time to do the work.
Canoe Seriously cool. Not to many people would have that in their 240. Where did you pick it up from? Is the spout long enough to get into a 240 ? Or does it have an extendable bit inside? How much does it hold ? The fact that it has the word "Volvo" impressed into the metal on the can, would convince me to buy it.
jamesinc @Canoe it holds 6L and it has a spout that you flip around much like modern jerry cans. I picked it up from another member on here, he said it was in the boot of a 242 he picked up. I need to fabricate the mount to hold it to the spare wheel. I've got a big ol chunk of aluminium round bar, just need to find the time to make something up.
jamesinc This is where I'm going with the mount. I'll probably end up removing 10mm of thickness or so, but I want to offer it up to the wheel first so I can measure the exact amount for a flush fit. The last step will be to create a cylindrical cut-out in the centre followed by a conical cut-out and a flat base for a bolt. That will go through and fit a receiver that sits on the other side of the wheel. I also need to drill some holes in the sides for set screws to hold the pins in place.
