Hi everyone, I have a 1977 244 DL B21e automatic that needs a new speedo cable. The car is completely original (engine, tranny). Can anyone suggest where I can purchase one of these? Thanks !
I bought one from tascaparts.com. Just have to be careful about the part number, there's a bunch of different speedometer cables depending on your transmission, dash type, and LHD/RHD.
Tascaparts.com are thieves and liars. I will never give those disgusting crooks any money ever again. They lie about what they have in stock, or more to the point, what they've never had in stock for years.

Presuming you have an auto, you're after part number 1234255-6. About $60 USD

Or you can go directly via gcp.se, which volvopartswebstore.com will likely go to to get this anyway.
425 SEK plus shopping.

GCP says they have it in stock, because they do have it in stock.

I'm in Auckland, but when I did my speedo cable on my '83 244 B23E auto I got one made by a local instruments supplier/fixer - Robinson Instruments.

Cost like $12.00 or something and was made to match the old one that was split in two.
Ooh, nice. Got contact details on them in case others run into trouble sourcing them?
Ok thanks for the help, I might try and source a good used one from the wreckers.

At $12 id be guessing that's just the inner drive and not the whole kit and caboodle others have posted about.

If you just need the inner part universal kits are readily available. They ones used in 240's don't have fancy ends or anything.

It was just the cable made to length - So I just undid it from the underbody end and pulled it out though the dash and vice versa when installing, blasting some contact cleaner down the tube and greasing the new cable before putting it in.

I donno why you would replace everything when you can just slide the new cable in?

Also, the man did look at the cable oddly because it had a little bush/stop thing on either end which must be odd?

If you know the length of the cable you need, I can compare to the used ones I have here.

The longer ones are for M45 manual cars, the shorter ones I'm not sure about, but their length is approximately 126cm.
