Well just started on rebuilding my 1973 142, twin carbs, manual with factory electric sunroof.
Plan is repainted after fixing rust issues, retrim in black, etc etc,
End plan to have reliable old runner but with a bit of extra poke!!!
Will and pics later

Would like to see pics of the sunroof ive seen factory manual sunroof but never a electric one a 140.
Sounds like a big job but 1974 142s look great when restored

Dedicated with the sunroof.

Yeah Chris quarters are good so are sills and roof, hanging panels are good, filling in indicators in front guards and relocating in front bumper, rear panel between tail lights rusty so will be fitting different tail lights and making new rear panel, other then that all external trim will remain as easier then welding up holes,, long way to go, but no rush!!

Rear beaver repairs, no rust now.
Next is bottom of rear quarters then fully weld and grind smooth, primer then hi fill,,,

We smoothed off the rear quarters with the lower sill. Lots of rust repairs were attempted, we just cut it all out and started again.
Wasn't interested in bog and other carp fouling the paint years later.

That's exactly why I'm welding in new pieces of metal, fully welding inside and out where I can, grinding welds back and just a lick of filler to get it all smooth, no rust will come back because all has been cut out.
Some well known shops still just treat existing metal and load big in, then charge big money for spray job, at least if I do it I know it's done properly,,

Exactly.
The guys that's worked my car, took so many photos. He contacted me every step which is confidence inspiring.
+ I do all their chrome and what not. So if he did a shit job, he would know about it.
oldman
Haha yeah always good to actually know the person personally,,

Yeah, he's a client of ours, that's how I met him.
Sadly I can't that that type of work my self.
I would love to, though I'm not talented in that area.

Finally making a start on my 142 bought all the parts to rebuild gearbox and brakes will leave engine till last
oldman
Excellent more 142's the better, all rust done, now just seal everything and stone guard underneath, then start rubbing edges, boot and engine bay, then finally lay down some colour,,

Awesome. Beyond those couple little dents, all the large panels are ripple free?
oldman
Yep, all good,
Re high filling today and then tomorrow start blocking back again!!
deleted_user_160
Awesome. Not long until assembly
What's the color choice? Or haven't got that far yet?
oldman
Yeah, colour will be an xr6 colour called swift, once the edges are painted, doors and guards go back on and then it will start looking like a car again,,
