What are the big holes in the rear where the tail lights are for?
I know the pain of a respray, even with a qualified painter it doesn't make it better unless they are any good or care as I found out.

Using different tail lights, they mount from inside, just a cleaner loo, also removed ugly front indicators to clean up front guards, yep respraying is a long drawn out process but should look ok when finished,,

There is that, and also the old you get what you pay for. And from a shop. Warranty is key

Removing the front late indicators, is a vast improvement.
oldman
Yes the front indicators were discusting, easy to get rid of and a vast improvement!!
Doing majority of work myself so anything comes back, I'll only have myself to blame, hopefully all will be fine, won't be a show car just a nice cruiser---

I've been toying with flush indicators for my early front. Given the housing mount on the front, should be able to mount front behind and take advantage of the very small hole in the panel. Then use a flat curved orange lens.
oldman
Yeah, I'm going to use parking light housing with orange globe, I've also put side indicators in guards so indicators can be seen from side of vehicle, as RMS said this would be necessary..

That was exactly my concern with blanking put my front indicators.
As my headlights incorporate indicators and parkers.
Though time and forethought before the car was painted wasn't there

Horses for courses - I like the 73 /74 140 look, but tastes vary.
You could always run with up to 72 front guards and 164 -style bumper-mounted indicators / parkers.
oldman
True, if we all had the same tastes we would all be driving Hyundais!!!!

Drive a Hyundai road gnat??? I'd rather take crucifixion (line on the left, one cross each)...
The paint is looking very nice! What is the colour called?
TerryA
Love the colour, what the name of the colour
deleted_user_160
Ooo nice color!
oldman
Guys the colour is a Ford colour called Swift, but we added some tinters too be a little different.
Before this I cleaned underneath and re-stone guarded it, so once the outside is painted, I can finally bring it home.
Doing repairs and panel work yourself really makes painting a long drawn out process,,

Looking good

Thanks Peter, getting there.
Fitted tail lights and surrounds, just need welding and smoothing off

Tail lights are definitely not out of place, but different also. Totally approve ;p
Are they an industry standard size? Like truck tails lights or Ute tail lights?
As there are a few really rad designs out there with integrated LED directional indicators that function kinda like the new AUDI indicators do. Really cool.
oldman
Yeah Jay, a little different, they are off a Holden Colorado trayback ute.
There are slot of LED type out there but I wanted old bulb type, also a lot of the ones sold on eBay etc are not Australian standards passed,,,
