  • [HAVE SOURCED] WTB VIC: 240 B23E compatible power steering pump mounting bracket

@Angus242164 has helped me out with this. Mods please lock thread.

I recently discovered that the power steering pump and A/C mounting bracket on my 240 is a welded steel plate for some reason. Because of this my IPD A/C Bypass Kit doesn't fit right.

If someone has a spare mounting bracket (with slider etc) I'd be keen to buy it, happy to pay postage if the price is right. I don't have time to hit up pick a part at the moment.
Oh so you want the mount for deleting the a/c? Where the power steering pump sits at the bottom
Nah I just need a standard mount With the P/S pump up top. Someone has fitted an aftermarket A/C pump to it (assume from another car) and made a bodge mount that holds A/C and P/S pumps. The bodgey mount makes everything vaguely floppy and it means the A/C bypass belt is too long cause the P/S pump isn't in the right location.
I have the set of brackets and bolts that are used to mount the PS pump to the top of the AC compressor bracket.

If you also need the AC compressor bracket itself, that might be a little more tricky. There are two styles of bracket used on B23E 240's for the York type compressor, and I think there is possibly a third bracket used for the Sanden type compressor.

It might be best for you to take a few pics of the current setup and upload them, so we can brainstorm a solution.

I've already removed the compressor in these photos, you can clearly see the diy P/S mount. The last photo is me moving the P/S pump to full extension and showing how much extra length is in the belt.

The belt came with the IPD bypass kit which is supposed to be specific to my '83 B23E, I didn't know that there were varied A/C pumps. I don't plan to keep any A/C equipment in the car, just want to have the P/S pump sit in the right place for the bypass kit to work.
That isn't a bracket I'm familiar with, and does appear to place the PS pump lower down than the usual setup, so swapping to the factory bracket setup should sort things out. This is the standard lower bracket, this one is from an '83:

Not pictured is a cast iron plate that goes between the block and that bracket, I think I have one here but will need to check and confirm, and the brackets that attach the PS pump to the top of that bracket, which I know I do have.

As you can see, the bracket relies on the AC compressor to stiffen the bracket, without the compressor fitted it's likely that the bracket will flex when the PS belt is tensioned.

If you want, I can cut the lower bracket down and weld on an angled brace in place of the compressor for extra cost.

Send me a PM if interested to discuss prices etc.
That clears things up a lot. My AC compressor and mount look nothing like what you pictured. Ill send you a PM.
