Hi there!
I've been lurking around for a bit looking at everyones bricks, some great rides on here :)
A couple of mates and I put our heads together and decided it would be a great idea to plan a trip to from Canberra to Uluru this winter, but with a Top Gear twist. Your car can't have cost a dollar more than $1000 to buy and get roadworthy (rego not included).
Having always wanted to drive a Volvo, and historically owning countless euro cars (BMW, Mercedes etc).. I couldn't resist this :P The other lads have so far grabbed a 99 Falcon Ute, two Subaru brumbies, an 80s rwd Hilux, and a Subaru Leone wagon.

I found my '88 wagon in the ACT, 10 minutes from home and covered in dust.
Playing home to a few white tails (I still worry, even after the bug bombs..) odo sitting on 478k and of course, its not moving either. I was surprised that the motor was already going when I arrived to see it, a $200 asking price doesn't normally mean you can drive the car home! I only had to replace the tires and a few bulbs for a RWC, ended up with some nice volvo alloys with fresh tires from a wreck that cost less than actual new tires!
I'm currently battling a few gremlins to get it running right before the real fun begins.
Chasing a hot start issue, looking at check valve, fp relay and fuse etc.
Crappy idle, will replace plugs and leads then go from there
High fuel usage, trying to ignore it.
Steering rack leaking, bummer.
Blower fan wont come on, bigger bummer.
Fun stuff planned:
Roof basket
LED light bar
Camping rig in the back
