Hi all,
Wondering if anyone knows if Australia received any 240's with the skinny brake booster. I kinda need one... desperately!
Thanks for any help!

Nope, pretty sure we didn't. Or if we did they are so rare you will never find one.
I don't think Australian 240s ever got them but late 760GLEs did, I'm not sure if they fit a 240 but I'm pretty certain they do.
Thanks guys, will have to try turbobricks. See if anyone will ship one here...
Duncan, there is a thread on turbobricks of somebody adapting to a skinny 740 booster with the 740 master cylinder. Trouble is the booster has a larger diameter which will interfere with the 240 clutch reservoir and cylinder on my car. Then again I'm assuming the 240 skinny booster fits in a manual car too.
The thinner brake booster will have a larger diameter.
By the way what is this for?
The skinny 240 boosters are the same diameter , they came out in early carby cars but not in Aus.

I was actually looking into all this a couple weeks ago cause i needed more room for my big turbo downpipe.. There was a NOS skinny booster on ebay, it worked out around 500 aud I think.
I'll try and find a link for you

I've got the turbo manifold routed very close to the master cylinder so am trying to move the master cylinder closer to the firewall for some air gap.
Thanks Dave. That's $720 shipped here and at that point I'd say there's better value adapting a higher performing brake system from another car, including the booster and cylinder, which I was planning to do something along those lines in the future anyway.

Have you got a Pic?
Mines bloody close too but I'm just rolling with it it's currently in the exhaust shop getting a dump made up
I did stumble onto some interesting information while looking into booster options.
BMW e30 booster is smaller and has the same bolt pattern as a 740 booster so it could be adapted to work in a 240, there's also booster delete kits available for e30s that could be made to work

I'll eventually update my build thread, just haven't been committed to a direction until now...
I'm going to wrap the manifold and I can fit a heat shield between the brakes and pipe but I think it would be wise to put a bit more of an air gap between it all...
The guy I bought the engine off used the same manifold your using (as far as I can tell?). He fit a 3 inch pipe and wastegate pipe between the master cylinder and ghee it was close. He wrapped the down pipe and claims he never had problems with the heat. I should have a photo somewhere of it
On savarturbo they've got the K10 Micra booster as more or less a direct swap, but Aus didn't get any of those either :(
Oh wow that's a manifold haha are you building the manifold yourself?
I'm going to be ceramic coating my manifold and I'll ceramic coat and wrap the dump and wastegate pipe and I'll make a heatsheild for the master it's all going to be very close.
Mines basically a copy of the ebay manifolds but with a couple changes and in mild steel.
Yeah i read about the micra booster then stumbled onto the e30 one, least with the e30 booster you could source everything here, there's a lot of options for aftermarket stuff etc and it was basically a direct fit apart from having to redrill the firewall holes to suit.
If you do come up with a nice easy solution let me know I would be keen to do the same and save some space
Thanks! Yeah making it myself.
Another option is to shift the motor over a little bit, maybe make new mounts or re drill the cross member to move the stock mounts over. But then I don't know if you'll need to make a new drive shaft to make up for any change in length.
What turbo and wastegate size are you using? Have you got a build thread?
Oh lol I just found your build thread. Don't know why I wasn't following
Yeah that's all abit out of my skill level so no idea if it would be feesible haha
You could vert mount the motor.
I'm using a gtx3076 turbo and 44mm Gfb wastegate.
Haha yeah I have a massive thread starting back like 4 cars ago
I was originally going to vert mount the motor. Made mounts and everything and then decided against it.
I've got a 3071 and 45mm turbosmart so pretty close!
Haha whereas I've got two build threads for the same car ?
I thought I'm probably going to put in an aftermarket cam and valve train and I wasn't confident in putting it in a head where I've changed the oiling design.

I've read a fair few threads about vert mounting the motors and haven't come across any oiling issues.
They use a b20 pan and oil pump and call it a day
I never heard of anyone else having issues too but idk I thought I would put it back to slanted and make a manifold
