850 Journey of the Flying Red Brick: 850R Wagon Restoration
Hi Folks,
As a new member, I'd like to share the journey of my Volvo 850R. Purchased from WA, I've had this car freighted to Melbourne (amidst lockdown circumstances in Victoria).
Please do join me and support me as I restore the car back to its former glory, and perhaps beyond...
Cheers,
Samin

I've done a "mow down" polish of the bonnet and passenger side of the car today. Bonnet had no clear coat, so took a while to do.
Feeling a bit frisky now, but long way to go...
As per YouTuber RobertDIY's suggestion, I've tested the PCV on the engine by placing a rubber glove on the engine oil cap. I noticed that the glove was inflating which is a sign the PCV is not working.
Any ideas / advice?
Clean the pcv box or just buy the replacement kit, not all that exxy for the uro branded parts from rockauto.com
Welcome!
Those Volans look familiar :)
What are your thoughts on upgrading brakes? I was told you can fit V70 brakes to the 850R and they perform much better..
The easiest brake upgrade is the 302mm front brakes, all you need to buy is the caliper brackets and new brake discs and longer brake hoses, and the brackets are still available new from Volvo
The bigger upgrade is the DVS 320mm kit plus calipers from Volvo or Ford that are much bigger than the P80 ones.
I have the Ford calipers from XR5 Turbo Focus and new DVS mount brackets for sale.
*The mounting fastener kit , discs , pads and HEL brake hoses can be bought from DVS.
Just done this to my R . And the performance of the brakes are much better 👍👍
