jlfents Hey Angus. Are any of them higher amp alternators? And are any of the starters the later model lighter ones? Thanks.
Angus242164 Negative to both, they are all 55 amp alternators, and all earlier model larger Bosch and Hitachi starters.I may have a spare 70 amp alternator from a late '80's 240 if that's helpful, price will be a bit higher.
jlfents Ok all good. I'll keep it in mind and will consider your lots of free engines and get back to you. Thanks!
jamesinc I'll grab an early-type starter, anyone else in Sydney want to combine postage? Always handy to have a spare starter on the shelf
carnut222 Anyone know when they changed from the through-bolts with nuts to the threaded holes in the starter on redblocks? I busted the positive lead lug off the 93 starter and was looking at my spares and noticed the older ones are through-bolt with nut. Fortunately found one in my spares with the threaded holes. I assume they’re interchangeable if you get the right bolts anyway, but just curious to improve my knowledge base! :)
Angus242164 Send me a PM when you're ready James, happy to combine postage.I think the change occurred somewhere around 1980 if not before Greg, I seem to have a mix of the two types in that lot.
Poppy @jamesinc I’m in Sydney, and would combine postage! My starter just died, perfect timing.Angus, I’ll take an early (for ‘79 244) Bosch with the through-bolts if one is still available?Cheers!
Angus242164 Yep I still have both types available, can you two send me PM's to let me know how you want to do it?This Saturday morning is the latest I can post until the week after next.
Angus242164 The through bolt style ones do fit B20 and B30 directly, I have one of that type handy at my place.
