Who remembers 8 tracks? Bought one about 50 years ago. Before cassette tapes. Years before CDs' The tapes pop up on Ebay on occasions.
Brothers BRG Mini Cooper S had one, or maybe his red one...
My Opa's Renault 17 (now owned by my uncle) still has the original one in it.

It's a '77 model, when my '77 633CSi has a tape deck...
Even when new I seem to remember the tapes were hard to find.
A bunch of 1 and 2 series Volvos had 8 track headunits, very hard to find them these days
My 144 gl 1971 model has one still fitted. I believe that it was installed by the dealership, but was not original equipment. It also got an under dash ac system. I have never seen a comparable car in person, so. I am not sure exactly what radio was originally fitted. It still turns on and the motor runs, but no tape playing. Might be a belt perhaps.

My '77 244 had a dealer headunit too, maybe that was just how they did things for Australian Volvos back then.
Im surprised they were still being fitted as late as 77. I think i bought mine about 68.
