Woohoo! First test drive with new steering shaft and E-fan relay. All good. No marks on steering shaft and no clunks, so that's all good now.
The car just drives really smooth - clutch is great, gearbox is great, it's relatively quiet even with no cat and just the rear OE turbo muffler. I can hear a little bit of turbo whine. The turbo power comes on really smooth and virtually no lag. I think the Turbo+ kit is working as intended, as the boost is a bit higher at full throttle above 3750 rpm than at full throttle at lower RPM. I haven't put in the calibrated boost gauge yet, but will do. I might hook up a test light to the Turbo+ solenoid to see if it's triggering, just to confirm it's working.
The E-fan comes on as intended - low speed comes on when AC switched on; high speed comes on when temp gauge gets up to about 3/4. I'm surprised how quiet the fan is actually - I had to go out and feel for the air flow as it wasn't immediately obvious it was on. Tested driving lights and horn, so all good with the new relay and fuse set-up. Need to test all lights, check tyre pressures again and check toe-in. It seems to wander a bit on the road (same as the other 240s with wide tyres) so maybe it's just what happens when U put oversize tyres on…will check anyway. I think the front lower control arm front bushes are a bit suss, so I'll replace them as well (when I get around to it). I think my next port of call will be trying to get the brakes fixed up on the 145 to make it ready to sell, then need to think of the next car project. May move onto some house projects first.
