Yeah, whoever it was definitely had a sense of humour.

Also the pulleys and how far the B230 engine pulleys stick out due to large harmonic balancer.
If you remove the right side engine mount, it will reveal the block date of manufacture (PM me out of curiosity).
Advise inspecting/renewing the wiring that goes under harmonic balancer area.
I'm assuming therefore that larger pulleys mean changing the alternator mount in that case, it's tricky to see how it'll work without trying to put anything together so will have to try figure that when i'm doing the swap.
Wiring under the balancer looks fine, no cracking in the insulation and doesn't budge when I gave it a quick tug so will remain as is for now.
Casting under the engine mount, assuming this means an 87 block.
Definitely has the 'K' under the intake manifold though, making it one of the first of the redesigned ones?
In other news, old intermediate shaft is out, and ready to swap with the one currently in the b23 which has the machined distributor gear, lots of stuff to pull off for this but not overly difficult unless you forget the two bolts holding the thrust plate on from underneath, took me ages of trying to lever it off before i realised they were there, luckily didn't break anything....
Have now bought ( I think) all the parts I'll need, apart from an oil filter, oil and some trans fluid which I'll pick up on the weekend.
Current tentative plan is to spend this weekend and next week getting everything as ready as possible ( will try fit up exhaust mani, turbo and oil cooler before it goes in) and then perform the big switcheroo next weekend. There's a pretty solid list of jobs to be done since i'll also be welding in a new inner guard to replace the (still) bent one, however this means all the front end will be off while I swap, so engine and trans will go out and in straight through the front, which should hopefully make life a little easier.
