  • Sydney: 240 steering rack

I have developed a massive leak (or twelve) from the steering rack causing more fluid loss than a fat joke.

Does anyone have a non-leaking steering rack to suit 89 240GL

Extra cash and beer your way if you can fit it too :)
Again, rebuild your own rack. You won't find one that's less than 26 years old (1993 was the last 240) so you're wasting your time with a second hand rack
@LOLVO I have to agree with ramrod here. I went through a similar thing to you and I ended up going through about four racks before throwing in the towel and having one rebuilt, which cost all of $220.

where did you get yours rebuilt?
How hard would it be to diy a rebuild?
New seals, new oil, new rubber pipes if need be.

(Not much experience in this field)
(Asking for a friend)
If it was easy, everyone would do it
@ljk346 it's not particularly hard, I would just watch a few YouTube videos to show you what you're going to encounter/how the rack works. There's probably a green book out there to explain the process too.

The difficult bit is getting the right seal kit.
These are getting old, but OEM is always the best and I've personally had quite good luck with good used parts. A rebuild is only as good as the parts used and bloke doing the work, which is all fine except when you pay for quality and get rubbish.
