Thanks mate appreciate it
anyone looking to sell in sydney? thanks
Get the turquoise, there were 76? R WAGONS brought here , only 30 odd manuals.
If you see a good one and yo u want one, don't hold back, most are rubbish now. Lots are gone.
Yes, 76. What is your chance to find one never mind a good one?
Yeah fair enough, well the wait game I guess lol
hey all just going to bump my old thread, anyone looking to sell their 850r? Preferably wagon, wont be too choosy over manual or auto (but do prefer manual)
Also, as probably picked up from other posts, not a tools person or hands on. So guess needs to be pretty good nick... :)
Thanks
Bloke in UK selling one like @Jamest5r_ has , could be faster than Jimmys too.....
Cost to import may well be worth it considering rarity.
If it's got anything to do with a bloke called Dana stay well away
Ah fair enough, always thought about importing from overseas. Jdm cars seem simple enough but never thought about the UK
Cost me about 6k all in shipped to Queensland, half was shipping fees the other half various taxes, import compliance plates and rego etc
Good luck finding a decent one for $5000, between reqiured yearly servicing costs & high klm maintenance costs (keeping in mind that 850Rs are now 24yrs old) sellers will expect to get a return on the time/costs involved, especially as they are going up in value with insurance companies now eg: produce basic service documents to Shannon's and they'll insure an 850R for $10,000.
You are correct, decent ones are at least 10k, Mint ones in the UK are going for 25k, my mate just sold his for £14500 ($26500)within 48hrs.
Anyone know of a good UK importer? Or maybe I go wander around Parramatta road lol
This is the bloke that done the Oz side of my import, valuation/compliance/rego etc
Couldn't of asked for a better service as it goes, I was crappin myself due to the amount of modifications etc on my car, dropped it off to him on a trailer and came back 2 days later and I had import modification plate and compliance plate and rego plates fitted, drove it away ?, had a little chat and he was saying things like those brakes aren't standard are they and that engine etc, even had an open cone air filter with no surround which was the only thing he said I might get pulled up on if ever checked, but didn't stop me driving away legally.
The UK side I sorted myself and dropped the car at a shipping depot so that saved me quite a bit of cash.
Ah sweet I'll give him a call. Thanks for that, guess it saves the endless wait or inflated prices of something local..
Maybe maybe not, the UK has inflated prices as well, but that is what the market is demanding and paying so not "inflated" as such. 5yrs ago you could of picked up a bargain but T5R & R models in good condition are expensive, add on I'd say now 8k for shipping etc you'd still be better shopping local, unless of course you want something that was never here, T5R Wagons ?
A full respray =$10, 000 for a quality one
Engine rebiuld = $7000ish, again for a quality one
Replace worn out out bushes, steering rack, wheel bearings, brake disc's & pads etc = $2000
Rebiuld 24yr old air con =$1500
Engine and sub frame mounts $1000
Service records = proof $ wise in value
Then there's the unknown expenses buying sight unseen : rims, tyres, dash cluster, upholstery, rare hard to find front bumper, boot heavy duty gas struts......
Quality parts = quality car that will last for many years to come in my books at least
We are lucky here in Australia that we have good suppliers, service centre's & forums that we can fall back on to maintain our cars.
Quality work will always cost quality money...... In the real world.
Hmm that's also a fair point too. Well back to the waiting game I guess. Hope it dowsn end up like that r34 going for like half a Mil lol
I reread your first posts here.
Consider....
Years ago it took me many months to find the 855R i had. At the time Volvo dealers were still getting them traded in and generally they were the wives cars as husband had a work vehicle so he drove the r for fun on weekends. Every Volvo dealer in Australia knew me from all the phone calls i made. Mine was found by a wholesaler and came from a large collection of cars traded on two new Range Rovers by a guy who had made money in tech sales and got every car he always wanted but moved on.
Mine got killed by a gorgeous young girl slamming it sideways with her grandads Magna.
You gotta wait or pay and if you are not mechanically minded or willing to learn then $5K is never going to be enough.
Ohh, i think i paid $32K for my RED 855R Manual with 60 odd thousand Ks on it. A brilliant example too....
think i figured that the budgets had to increase since then OR should have jumped on some of the lost opportunities and not been so anal about things.....
