Fuel pump has taken a holiday

Hmm if it was mate would fuel still get to the injector rail etc ? I took the injectors out twice

Yeah it would still have enough pressure to prime but not run, worth taking the cover off in the boot and giving the top of it a love tap ?, I once had a mate sit in the boot for my drive home and everytime it cut out he'd give it a slap, not scientific but it worked, not saying that's your problem but worth a go

Okay Jimbo , I'll endeavour with the spark plug drying and a little oil down the hole in the morning, if no go o to the pump ? worth a go hey ?

Just tried starting it up and its turning and almost started and tried a love tap but nope no good . So does the R use a different fuel pump to an ordinary 850 guys ?

I'm asking as I have a spare fuel tank with pump , just wondering if it's worth putting that one in till I buy a new one ...

Before I start , I can't thank Jimbo enough on this , the guy's a bloody Legend !

With talking to Jim over the phone today I've changed the 2 relays and the fuel pump and still nada . Still worth the change of the fuel pump as it started and at least run after the change , so later I'llgeta new one in there. So with a spray bottle squirting water looking for leaks I found a few around the inlet manifold. So off with it again , looks more likely that I didn't tighten it down enough as well . Anywho good clean off and a new gasket and all back together and all is good , no warning lights and I have the little bit of bling I wanted lol . Fcuking cars ? gotta love em

What type of inlet manifold spacer are you running do you the brand or type of material ? I have a snabb one from memory and I dont run a gasket just the spacer with no leaks that I notice for what it's worth. I am not sure if its the correct way to do it but I have had no trouble

I really do not know what brand it is but its made from a nylon/ delrin type material and its a perfect match. What i done this afternoon was take it all off again and sand down that spacer as it has a gasket on both sides of it ( wish I took a couple of pictures of it but hands covered it crap ) here's a picture from yesterday....

After sanding I put a new gasket on the side the manifold go's on

Then bolted it all back together and worked a treat .

The, let call it spacer is around 8-10 mm thick . It was on the car since I've owned it so didn't see any harm putting it back on . Again , I should have took some measurements of it for thickness but didn't.

Ok time for the ole monthly update , I wasn't going to do anything this month due to my teeth lol but with the lock down I cancelled the dentist and threw more coin at the R . Atm it's stilla non runner , been having trouble with the ecu so I put the oem back in . All was good but noticed that it felt like the fuel cut out but got back home . Later went to go out ( last saturday) and nothing and still the same

Been waiting for the new fuel pump to arrive but tracking says it hasn't moved since the 1st 60ks away in a sorting office.

Anywho , this lot has been sat in the garage from the Legendary Ash

Eibach springs and everything to convert from nivo , the car already has B6 on the front so will keep those .

So while on lock down got bored and ordered more suspension parts and all engine mounts and some other parts...

Tried polishing the injector cover as well , now they are hard anodised so take a lot of sanding

Its not too bad but needs more sanding to get to mirror finish , oh little idle hose there as well .

I have a spare leather arm rest that I'm going to cover or get covered in suede at some time and need to do something about the steering wheel

Seats are fantastic , love it . Hence I'd like to sort the above out .

Once it's up and running again ( fingers crossed its the fuel pump) I need to find out if the rings etc need doing, if so I'm going to have a crack at it , then suspension then tune and the bloody rego is due end of this month lol ..... best go do the lottery for tonight ?

Whats the console top cover Ash ? Is that the dash pad ?

I'm waiting for the guy who done the headlining on the tt to have some spare time so he can do the pad in suede as it goes ....

Seats look amazing Steve, you'll be very happy with the B6/ Eibach spring conversion, I replaced sway bar mounts and swivle bearing mounts as well, car sits tight as on the road now.

I've posted the new fuel pump seal to you.

Are you happy with the seat covers, I'm thinking about replacing mine in next years budget.

Thanks for the seal mate , will let you know when it arrives , yep I'm happy with the seat covers they have tightened up the seats like new .

There are peeps who do Kool steering wheel hobbies out there and on my project I was going to do alcantara dash cover with coloured stitching as well , I believe I had asked ELWOOD if they would do colour stitching on my V70R seat covers they were going to make for me when I sent them old skins off my R as they dont normally do that skin.

With the miss matching and missing wood trim , I've been on the lookout for a long time now for the right hand version but nothing has turned up or people won't post . I found a company in the US that does new ones in rhd so ordered a set last month in (apparently) real carbon fibre . Hopefully will be more pleasing to the eye and get away from the tired look that it is atm....

Edit : I can put the link up of the company later ( it's on my laptop) if anyone is interested
