Pulled the dash apart again today to remove the dash cluster and polish the spot marks out of the clear screen in front of the instruments as previous owners son looks have opened a can of coke or something similar, let it spray all over the instrument cluster and let it dry, the acid in the liquid left cloudy spots on the clear screen.
During the week I got some foam with single sided adhesive on it, 12mm wide by 6mm high sponge and stuck it to the areas of the dash frame that looked to have contact rub marks on them from the dash to padding, eg. around the top speaker areas, corner between glove box and dash cluster, above cluster etc in both vertical and horizontal areas where the top dash pad touches as the dash had a few squeaks in it.
Not any more, nice qiuet dash now, but that dash frame on the 850s is seriously poor design and with thin flimsy plastic braces every where you look. No wonder it breaks so easy.
Just put rebuilt drive shafts and engine & auto gearbox oils and filters replaced.
New fuel pump & fuel sender seals as they were leaking when fuel tank was full and car was parked nose first up hill, all sorted now as I had taken both out when I first got the car home and not reseated them properly (car needed new fuel pump as it had seized from sitting for so long) , that'll teach me to work on cars straight after having a torn shoulder tendon torn off and having it resewn back on, then decided I could work on the car one handed.
Used the first oil changes as a flush for 1000klms as car had sat for so long, 9yrs.
Thanks for the advice on the Piersberg tcv Steve, works very nicely.
