Could one drive it back without doing the engine mount first? Dud mount creates a vacumm leak IIRC.

The 90 is a great way to shift kids and lots of stuff around especially since the wife wants a 'big' car. I'm certainly not expecting it to be nimble through the twisties. If one could get improved fuel economy from a manual transmission then surely thats a bonus.

254k kms or miles? I remember speaking to the previous seller who stated the clock read 160k miles but that would be worth clarifying as well.

Most likely a 'sight unseen' purchase obviously. Interior condition could well be an issue as you say. Probably a more realistic $7-7.5k car all things considered.

Don't get me wrong -- I love the XC90 as a vehicle. I just don't think it gets better in manual, and tbh I think in some aspects it gets worse.

Though in fairness the one I drove didn't have hill start assist, and with a foot parking brake, this makes some euro drives challenging! This definitely coloured my opinion...
