A fuel pump is easy to hear when it primes. Turn the car on with the passenger door open and you should hear it whir then stop. Others on here could advise the implication of 10 year old fuel. It should start on bad fuel but run pretty rough. When you inspect the car be prepared to check fuel, spark / ignition etc. A voltmeter would also be useful :) Best of luck and let us know how the inspection goes.- Well it has less rust than mine:)

- Good question. I wonder if there was a higher percentage of manuals given it was only Volvo high performance option available for sale at the time from memory. Regardless could it be more than 100?

- Current owner bought it off the previous owner for $1300 (so he said). This was what it cost her to replace the trans. Was advertised for Sale (ozvolvo.org) along with an early Blue XC70 manual with immobiliser issues late last year. You'll need rear shocks replaced (for blueslip) and will probably need a battery but should fire straight up based on feedback given by current owner. He wanted $2800 for it late November last year when I spoke to him though I recommend calling for your own assessment.
The 90 is a great way to shift kids and lots of stuff around especially since the wife wants a 'big' car. I'm certainly not expecting it to be nimble through the twisties. 254k kms or miles? I remember speaking to the previous seller who stated the clock read 160k miles but that would be worth clarifying as well.
Most likely a 'sight unseen' purchase obviously. Interior condition could well be an issue as you say. Probably a more realistic $7-7.5k car all things considered.

Could one drive it back without doing the engine mount first? Dud mount creates a vacumm leak IIRC.- The first to see what I did there gets a NOS lolly pop (used once).
