volvodriverman Sketchy memory on this but I think 164 was ate, 264 I have is ate and I'm quite certain I've used 2 series rear calipers on a 164 before. Maybe fcpgroton search part # on new calipers if listed?
Rob egads;13778 wroteYup, should all be the same from 1 series through to 2000 V70 really? so the 850 I have sitting in my back yard should have the correct rear calipers for my 164?
egads (she/her) Yup, it is crazy but it should. The ATE rears were used for 30 years on almost every Volvo (DAF stuff is why the almost).
volvodriverman I put 740 rear calipers on a 244, the angle the pipe fitted up at was different but manipulatable.
Blue164 Can't remember if my old white one had solids on the rear, but the Blue one is solid front and back and is Girling, the white one had vented front and was ATE.
Rob Yeah. My red one has solid Girling fronts. My others all have ATE fronts and they are vented.. I have not checked the rear.
egads (she/her) IRS Volvo's don't use the common caliper so awd stuff, 760, 960, ?some late 940??? won't interchange.
Rob i had a look this afternoon. My 164 seems to have these calipers The 850 seems to have these The listing for the brake pads gives them both the same number. I wonder if the calipers are interchangeable.
Tigabu Dimensionally they 'look' similar and the cosmetic changes seem to be an attempt to lighten their weight/heat dispersal???
Rob Yeah, that was my thought.. at a quick glance they look as though they will fit. perhaps trying them is the best option.
Rob I pulled the brakes off the 850 today and gave them a good clean up. I will pull the ones off the 164 tomorrow and compare.
