So I've got the bits to put a manual gearbox in 740 or 940. Includes: M47 gearbox (proper 5-speed, not the 4-speed w overdrive); Good tail shaft; Flywheel to suit either LH2.2 or LH2.4 (your choice); Used clutch (need to double check that I still have this); Manual pedal box; Clutch master and slave cylinders.

Came from a NA 88 744GL that was wrecked due to a blown head gasket just before the rego was due.

Will seperate (within reason) or sell complete - I'd like to keep the pedal box.

Will require a new clutch throw-out bearing (these are included if you buy a new clutch kit).

$900 for everything, we can work downward from there.

what is an M47 like? strong? can i fit one up behind a B30.. would love a proper 5 speed.

Not a bad box - stronger than an M46 apparently, but not W55 or T5 strong.

The 740/940 shifter position is too far rearward for a 240, but would easily be shortened down to 240 length - don't know how this relates to a 164.

Also, I've got the same ratio of cool stuff to boring stuff as the rest of you - I just have more stuff... :-/

Just to be clear: $900 gets you both flywheels, inc the unobtanium LH2.4 one, and the pedal box. Dellow were selling new aftermarket LH2.4 FWs for around $600 ($595 IIRC). Volvo wreckers wanted $500-600 for a (more common) 240 M47 last time I asked.

Swap for white V70 and red V70 parts car? Also to cover assisting me in fitting to 940. Really never going to fix the white one myself so the good bits might as well keep your XC on the road.

LH2.4 flywheel is $200 (brand new clutch surface, some pitting elsewhere due to surface rust, has been bead blasted).
LH2.2 flywheel is $70.
Pedal box, $150.
Slave cylinder, hose and master cylinder, $100.
