JFYI, the S80 did come in both FWD, and in AWD versions.

They don't give good ratings unless a car is safe... and it was one of their top safety picks

Philia Bear, the link you've provided shows that between 2009 and 2015, the safety rating for the driver was POOR.
That to me does NOT sound as good as Volvo does it?

Don't worry @Jackiejr I'm sure we've all been there before. The number of times people have asked my advice about what car to buy then totally ignored it is beyond count. In the end, people want what they want and set their own priorities, even when to our eyes the priorities are wrong. I look at it the other way - when someone takes my advice I see it as a big win.

How sensible of you Chris. You are right. It's just that I've dealt with this resistance for 23 years so my own resilience to banging my head on a wall is I confess, waning lol. I had to laugh yesterday as I texted my son and mentioned his Aspergers but as I'd dictated the message, the phone wrote it as "Ass burgers." I left it as such.

Lol, I sense your frustration. None of my children have been diagnosed with "Ass burgers" but we certainly have had our share of rigid, insistent I'll do it my way behaviour over time. Some of it over cars too.

Spectrum sure makes diagnosis hard, especially if you make it to adulthood. Often don't get formal diagnosis without other mental health stuff kicking in.

Oh dear...I am sorry to hear that, Chris; ass burgers or not. :anguished:

I guess our frustration is a result of caring and loving them despite their lack of self awareness and inflexibility. I'd have given anything to have a caring and informed parent but maybe ingratitude is increasingly a sign of the times.

Agreed and thank you. I think there is far greater awareness of spectrum related issues nowadays. When I married a man with "ass burgers" back in '88, I'd no idea what it was and nor that he had it. Bloody genetics!!
