Noticed a slow but constant loss of coolant on my B23E equipped 240 Estate and have finally tracked it to the welch plug just above and to the left of the oil filter. Haven't had to do one for a very long time (and never on a 240) and just wanted to know if there are any pitfalls/wrinkles anyone wants to pass on? Where is the best place to source them and should I do all of them (seems like a PITA to me)...thanks!
Thanks James, are they are brass or steel replacement and is it worth ordering all of them or just replacing them as they fail? cheers....
Pretty sure they're steel. I think they're just 40mm plugs if you want to source some locally. Volvo had two types, one is flat(ish), the other is a cup shape. I think they're interchangeable, but you might find the cup shaped plugs easier to work with.

I guess if I had one failing I'd do the whole side. You're going to have to pull the manifold and so on to access it, may as well do all four.
Cup shape are massivly easier to work with

They are still a pita to do

That's what I wondered unfortunately, I've got a broken stud on the manifold that I could do at the same time but either way it's going to be a bit of a nuisance...

I should have a better look just to work out what I'm dealing with, not sure which plug profile I've got, seem to remember using a screwdriver punched through the plug and then levered to get it out but I imagine lining it back up for replacement will mean dropping the manifold, copious amounts of WD-40 will be in order!

Not that hard, cleaning the surfaces is most important.
