Well... It has been a long time but after chatting with Mark, a fellow Volvo die hard, I have finally got back into my project.
I have made up A/C hoses and it is all hooked up and wired but not yet gassed.
I have also wired in a VW adjustable intermittent wiper relay, so I now have variable speed intermittent wipers. It works great. I made a post a couple months ago about that little mod.
And a rainy day last week saw me pull all the front suspension out and it now has all new bushes and ball joints.
I pulled and sent the Steering rack away to be rebuilt. Thanks to Supasteer in Victoria. Beautiful looking job, but it remains to be seen how well it now works. I am expecting the best.

I also pulled out the cross member and pulled the sump off to fix a leak there. It turned out that the windage tray was interfering with the Moroso sump so I had to trim the rear corners off it. I also laid silicon to the front and rear cover seams. I am hoping that that issue is now resolved. Below is a pic:

Somehow it seems almost inappropriate to be posting the above pic. Sort of like looking up a girl's skirt when she does not have undies on! (Not that looking up a girl's skirt when she does have undies on is appropriate either.)
Getting the sump off was no small job though. The cross member had to come out, along with the brake lines, steering shaft out, the headers off, the starter off, and the bell housing cover off, and the oil lines too. All took some time but came apart easily enough once I bit the bullet and got stuck in.
Now I have run into a snag with the flexible brake lines. The originals are 40 years old and looking very tired so I thought I would replace them. I ordered some nice stainless HEL ones off the internet but they are wrong. IPD tells me that 262 have different lines, which I find hard to believe. I will pull the lines off my old wagon parts car and compare them.
Does anyone have any clues on this? Old line and new HEL line below.

Otherwise all is ready to go back together.
