Random thoughts:

Sound deadening under the carpets
Manual everything - windows, mirrors, steering - it all weighs less than the powered equivalents
Front OE seats are very heavy compared to most racing seats. OE seat rails are also heavy compared to the alloy ones they usually use for racing
Remove the plastic trims inside the front wheel wells and under the rear bumper, they're pretty much dead weight
Remove tow bar if you have one
You can't delete the rear seats (legally) unless you get the car re-certified as a 2-seater, which isn't complicated but costs a couple hundred dollarydoos
A lightened crank pulley is a fun mod and shaves several kilos
Delete the A/C system if you're not using it, that weighs a fair bit when you include the compressor, dryer, evaporator, condenser, and all the hoses
You can run a smaller battery
If you have a stereo (I can understand not wanting to delete it) with a subwoofer/amp, put plugs in your wiring so you can remove those things when you want to go drifting
Sound deadening and linings in the boot

With things like sound deadening, they do weight quite a bit, but you may decide for a daily you'd much rather not be deaf. By way of example, take out the rear seats and the passenger seat, and the rear carpet, and then brap the car around the block. That'll be about the cabin noise you can expect with the seats and carpet in but sound deadening removed. It's quite loud.

Still not sold on the idea of manual steering for the drifts.

Tow bar deleted, wheel well trim deleted already.
I want to delete AC because it doesn’t work anyway, but a AC delete bracket has been hard to come by.
I want to delete rear seats also, but feel sad for all the people not getting a lift. :(

Heard bad things about a lightened harmonic balancer/pulley. Guess because it’s a “balancer” the weight is for a reason?

Would actually like to run music whilst drifting, a little bit of fun over functionality but I’m willing.

I’ll try that interior removal trick to test it out :+1:

It's an inline four that in previous models did not have a harmonic balancer. So that is not a great issue.

You can use an eb-ef falcon t5. But it does stick back further than the mustang extension housing. Keep in mind even a 1000 box could still need a rebuild.

If you have a budget. Double it, seriously, it's the little bits that catch you out. Have you even thought about brake pads? Spring rates are all well and good, but shocks do the majority of the work in real time.

Get it running, drive it, drift it, you will work out where you need to spend the money by drifting it!
You will also learn more by drifting a poorly setup car, drifting is hard on a car, even more so when you are starting out. You will break stuff on track while you are learning, don’t put the good stuff in until you stop jumping ripple strips and hitting barriers/other cars, seriously...
I learnt a lot by drifting my basically stock r31 skyline and by the time I had the car setup better and had more power by way of turbocharging, it was easier to control.
Powerful well setup cars are very good at disquising a lack of talent...

Welded diff, locker or lsd, doesn’t really matter too much as long as both wheels spin. I would suggest one of the last two though as a welded diff in a daily driver can get annoying.

Definitely manual, with the amount of grip you will need to slide with a B230F and the fact you will only be using 1st & 2nd gears an M47 will survive just fine.

Just get as much seat time as possible, that is the most important part. ?

This plus eleventy-billion.
Even an advanced driving course or two will be a huge help, then take every opportunity you can to get along to track days, sessions, etc.
Find a supportive group of people with their heads screwed on, do more driving, develop yourself as much as possible and then start to more seriously develop the vehicle.

If you follow the book of roadworthy requirements, then it literally was unroadworthy by not having the rear seats. I'm unsure how you need to be qualified to read a pamphlet on road worthiness. Relax.

In case you're unsure, a very lowered car, with loud exhaust and stickers etc is a very good magnet to have the police pull you over. Especially if they find you in an empty industrial estate late at night. It's not about the actual legality when pulling over. It's the scare to stop being in empty industrial estates which are covered in tyre skid marks.

Expensive when options such as the spartan and aussie locker exist (especially considering that you're after a drift car). I think you also need to get the unit machined to take the tone ring for your speedo. They'd definitely be more refined to drive than a spartan; no ratcheting, backlash or clunking to deal with.

Locker would be alright, but for a daily 70% and a drift car 30% is it worth the noise??

The noise isn't too bad, you just learn to coast around sharper corners out of gear. Everything else is fine. Worth it for the skids
