Hi, new C30 2007 (petrol) owner here, I'm having trouble finding a maintenance schedule, can anyone point me towards one? Wondering when to get timing belt done. TY.
C30 timing belt interval
180,000km or 10years for the timing belt
9% failure rate at that pointtimbo;110759 wrote180,000km or 10years for the timing belt
I highly reccomend 7 years or 120k which has a sub 1% failure rate

Any recommendations for a workshop to change a belt in Sydney?
Also has anyone here used the Gates "performance" Kevlar belts? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-high-performance-timing-belt-tensioner-kit-minor-tbkit331b-rb
Apparently they're a bit harder to fit, but haven't been able to find much else on them.

I exclusively use the gates belts, worth every extra cent for the much higher quality
I wouldn't even trust a belt with my life for 10 years or 180,000 kilometres on my NON interference engine.

Thanks mate. That's good enough for me. I'm about to order the parts from FCP along with new drive belts and idlers. I don't suppose either of those indies have issues with supplying your own parts? I once asked Savvas to fit my RDA rotors and he was very uncomfortable with the idea and quoted me ~ $700 labour, presumably to get me to piss off.Philia_Bear;c-145967 wrote Fina automotive or lupica motors

When it costs $1500 to change.. you put it off as long as possible.ramrod;c-145973 wroteI wouldn't even trust a belt with my life for 10 years or 180,000 kilometres on my NON interference engine.

Don't expect those mechanics to accept your timing belt job if you don't let them supply their parts.I don't suppose either of those indies have issues with supplying your own parts? Don't mind getting it from the meccy, but can any of those supply the Kevlar belt?ramrod;c-145978 wrote Don't expect those mechanics to accept your timing belt job if you don't let them supply their parts.
I dunno........Ask them
Any decent mechanic will do stuff if you supply parts, just warranty for work changesramrod;c-145978 wroteDon't expect those mechanics to accept your timing belt job if you don't let them supply their parts.I don't suppose either of those indies have issues with supplying your own parts? Not sure why you keep saying this stufframrod;c-145978 wroteDon't expect those mechanics to accept your timing belt job if you don't let them supply their parts.I don't suppose either of those indies have issues with supplying your own parts? Some mechanics are like this... and they are ones I don't ever reccomend
@c30c30
Both mechanics I specced out will happily use your parts but will advise that there is no warranty on parts for obvious reasons

The Gates Kevlar belt is no harder or easier to fit than anything else - its possibly a little stiffer than a reinforced rubber belt. Perhaps thats what they're referring to?
We only do three options for timing belts for any of the 5cyl iterations -
* Gates Kevlar
* Continental
* Genuine Volvo
The Vocus, as of very recently, has a Gates Kevlar fitted.
@Meowsy1 since you're in Geelong, yell if you want to grab a coffee at some point.
There are fairly regular informal 'Cars and Coffee' events at Garagista on Saturdays too that are worth going along to if you like cool things automotive.

I fit dozens of genuine timing belts for our local Volvo and focus customers. They can happily do 180,000km or 10yrs and only start showing signs of fatigue about 11yrs.
@ramrod has no idea what he's talking about.
