First up - you're more likely to have a B230
F, not an E. unless your 88 240 was an import from the UK.
Second - those turbo kits from Ebay are complete garbage. The exhaust manifold is crap and welds have been known to break, even after you'd had to modify the POS to get it to fit. Don't forget how LHD 240s have a lot more clearance on the RH side compared to what we have, so it's not going to be a easy-to-bolt-on affair.
Third - if you want to go turbo, your best option is to find a written off 740T or 940T and do an engine / engine management system swap. Do a search and look up some of the advice given by
@Slowbrick, who's done it with both the LH 2.2 injection and the LH 2.4 system.

That depends: How big is your budget? Bigger isn't always better, and more power means more stuff needs to be beefed up. e.g An AW71 auto will handle up to 300 BHP before problems arise; an AW70 - which is most likely in your car now - won't. What are your goals? Horsepower target?
