2000. I probably should've included that somewhere!

Still waiting for the snorkel airbox to be delivered, so I started thinking about the crap low beam. I think I'll replace the Koito sealed beams with Raybrig semi sealed housings and IPF Super Low Beam bulbs.

Also made some progress on the parts ute.

How much are the ipf branded globes over normal 100w globes? I'm running led globes now in the wagon. Very happy with them.

Which LED globes are you using?

7" round universal LED lights are available, however they don't work properly without doing some rewiring as LandCruiser headlights are negatively switched. To be honest, I'm not sure I can be bothered with that.

I could also run normal 100/90w H4s however that's probably pushing the standard wiring too far.

Some $5 relays fixes the negative switching easily
Yeah, it would be a matter of wiring up the headlights in a similar way to driving lights, or making 240 headlight switches last more than 5 minutes.

Hand throttle has been replaced, nice to have that working.
Entire heater box replaced with a brand new unit from Toyota, including AC evaporator and heater core.

Currently getting it ready to have the snorkel installed. While in there I decided to replace the ugly and slightly leaky custom made crossover pipe with factory parts from the 1HD-T. Because the 1HZ is running a CT26 from a HDJ100, this required having the compressor outlet pipe shortened (which was already modified from something else), and the crossover pipe shortened by 5mm.

Current progress:

Fit new genuine snorkel type windscreen washer reservoir.
Fit compressor inlet pipe from HDJ79, (old airbox was modified to clear HDJ100 pipe).
Longer threaded rod welded in to snorkel type airbox, to fit FZJ80 airbox lid.
Fit breather pipe assembly from 1HD-T

The FZJ80 airbox lid will need to be modified to suit the compressor inlet, and have a fitting installed to plumb the breather hose into as the HDJ100 compressor inlet had a fitting for this. Probably some other fiddling to mount the filter restriction sensor.

I'm also changing both fuel filters while the airbox is out as access is easier. Waiting for a new primer pump housing (old one cracked in half near mounting bolt) and element housing retaining bolt (old one mangled/corroded).

Parts guy at the local Toyota dealership is good, and prices have been much more reasonable than I expected.
Any pics of the differences?
Not yet, hoping to finish it this weekend.

I found some "before" photos:

Some current photos, airbox lid not done yet. Now have a boost leak, haven't had time to find it.

Not sure where I put the brake test report, but it only just passed rego at around 24% difference left to right.

The brakes have never felt great, and there are a few upgrades available. Current plans:

Check condition of calipers, rebuild or replace if necessary
Check rotors, replace if necessary
Sharpe Tooling backing plate delete
Sharpe Tooling proportioning valve spacer
Booster upgrade, either Bramac or OEM dual diaphragm from 80 or 100 series
Braided extended brake lines
Handbrake kit with longer dogbones, either Boss or Terrain Tamer
Flush and bleed with new fluid (of course)

Did a bit of testing this morning, absolutely no chance of getting brake lockup on dry road. Managed to lock the fronts in the wet on one attempt.

HPD catch can arrived today, looks good.

Sharpe Tooling backing plate delete - on back order
Sharpe Tooling proportioning valve spacer - ordered
Bramac brake booster ordered, will be built in Rockhampton and shipped next week
Braided extended brake lines - looking at options
What brake pads are you using?
Not sure what I'll get, forgot to put that in the list. Any suggestions?
All 4x4 pads are too hard Imo.
Definitely want rotors and pads all round. Front wheel bearings need adjustment, might replace all of them.

If I'm taking it all apart I should probably decide which diff locks to get.
Also, I'm thinking about swapping the rear springs and shackles between my ute and the wreck. The ride from the back end is harsher than it needs to be.

The wreck has Snake Racing shackles and what look to be EFS springs with 6 main leaves and 2 overloads. My ute looks to have constant load springs, as there's 8 main leaves with no overloads.

Despite having no tray, the wreck only sits about 20mm higher than my ute, so I don't think it should make too much difference.

I'll order some SuperPro bushes and Superior Engineering high clearance U bolt plates to fit at the same time.

I can help with SuperPro bushes and extended brake lines for it, no problem at all - we do custom stuff all the time.
Drop me an email if you like.
