About time you updated your cars! Ever get one of the people who you helped with your cars to help you with the 940?

My 740? Haven't touched it since it blew the HG last year. I'd like to, but I want to focus on the Cruiser so it actually gets done.

It's alright. I'd like more torque and better fuel economy so I'm working towards that at the moment.

You have a 1hd-t sitting in your shed? The only great difference is in compression isn't it? So it would have less comp, so less power. A better idea would be to go to a bigger turbo, t3 /4s seem to spool well on this size motor and you will probably gain economy, but I think gaining economy is a pipe dream as they seem to have a base level fuel usage.

Yeah, I bought it a few weeks ago. The 1HZ is IDI, 1HD-T is DI. Other differences are stronger rods, pistons that don't fail in a turbocharged application, and a 12mm injector pump as opposed to 10 or 11mm (depending on year) on 1HZ.

Currently getting 17L/100km mainly highway. Towing a box trailer to pick up the 1HD-T was 21L/100km, and doing some mild 4WDing returned 20L/100km. I'm hoping for a 2L/100km improvement with a direct injection engine.

I do plan on a turbo upgrade in the future, but not on the 1HZ.
The bigger pump will mean less economy, you cat really get around it with a big engine in a big square thing with big heavy tyres and full time 4x4 I think. My mate gets 12 in his hj100 with a selectable 4x4 conversion, and 275/80/16s ht tyres.
The added efficiency of direct injection should help. The larger pump shouldn't make a difference if they're both tuned to deliver the same amount of fuel. You said HJ100 with a part time 4WD conversion, so I assume it's a HDJ100 with the direct injection 24v 1HD-FTE. HZJ105s are factory part time 4WD, and I have never heard of a 1HZ getting those sorts of figures.

Anyway, this followed me home tonight.

2002 HDJ79, not on fire.

Hoping to salvage the H150F gearbox, transfer case, driveshafts, etc. From a quick glance, there's some hope the 1HD-FTE will be okay too, even if it's just the block, head, manifolds and turbo.
It has a set of 16x10 Allied Thunder wheels, rear ARB air locker, 3" exhaust, 3" suspension lift, dual tanks, etc.
Not currently on fire. It certainly was at some point.
Sorry, it's been converted to part time 4x4, and is a manual RV model 1hz car. The donor car looks interesting. Depends on if it was off to the damage.
Interesting, I would've expected the HZJ105 RV to have part time 4WD from the factory.

Anyway, hoping to start stripping down the wreck on the weekend.

No more jobs for others for now?
Hopefully not for a while, there's no space left in the shed.

I'd really like for the GTR to be gone by now, I could use the space.
Does your mate still have that fairlane that's always broken?
That's a pretty random question for this type of thread. The answer is yes, but he hasn't driven it for years.
Sorry, probably should pm you. Just on a topic of storing the gtr.
Neat rig. Super handy vehicle to have where you are, no doubt.
Did the Hilux die and this replaced it?
Cheers Ash.

It replaces both the Hilux and 745T in function to some degree, as it's good for towing, moving things, and is a reliable daily driver. I plan to put the Hilux and 244 both on historic rego.
