Do you get our to the Volvo Club of NSW stuff or is it a bite geographically inconvenient?
Many moons ago I was a member of the now defunct Volvo Club of Queensland and I got all the goodies associated with being in a club including Rolling Magazine however haven't participated in anything for a few years. I sort of went off the boil when I sold my old 164 due to finances being strained at the time.
I won't say I'm now 'cashed up' but I've been able to afford to buy a 1977 264GL that is 'club worthy' so looking at placing it on historic rego and going to a few rallies. Trouble is that in the ACT there's no club to cater for Volvo's or even European cars for that matter. There is however BMW, Merc, Porsche, Alfa etc etc clubs and I even considered at one stage buying an old merc so I could at least get involved in a car club but alas the Volvo tattoo doesn't wash off lightly and my daily driver an XC70 (the best car I've ever owned).
The other issue I had is that I've had quite a few Volvo's and I have cut up a lot of tools and made bit's and pieces to fit this and that, all on Volvo's. I'm no expert but has some knowledge of the brand and don't really want to learn a bunch of new tricks in rebuilding a merc for example.
And then there's that funny look I always get a work when I meet someone and tell them I'm a Volvo nutter! It obviously explains a lot about my character :-)
Also how could I forget the comraderie of things like this forum and all your guys............it's just good fun!
