I think last I was in Parkes I might have camped...
was about $10 or so if anyone is after a budget accom option, you wont get much cheaper than that.
Let's tentatively put it down for the 13th and 14th of September.
OldnDecrepit;12132 wroteAssuming that your talking about dinner, bed and breakfast for 2 people, then I don't think the $235 is that expensive.
Edit: Just looked at the Motel's webpage and it does look pretty good.
jamesinc;12130 wrote$235 is if you have two people in the room. Yeah there are lots of motels in Parkes, I just picked the nicest looking one! What's a reasonable budget?
It certainly looks nice enough.

$125 a night for room only seems reasonable enough, but not sure I could justify an extra $110 for 2x dinners. When would we need to book? I'd probably only know a week in advance if the GF would be attending, as her work roster is changed weekly.
They are 3 (three) course dinners and full hot breakfast. That's around $70 worth of value right there...
I'm keen.
I give no farks for the quality of the accom, either way - we always book rally accommodation based solely on the criteria of "what's the cheapest option that doesn't look like the cockroaches will eat your face off during the night". :)

Griffith is a bad idea because Ryan lives there. We might catch bad hair and no clue or something.

That's true, but it's only good value if you'd normally be buying a 3 course meal.

What sort of activities are planned for the weekend?

If most activities are going to be on one day I'll probably just drive up that day, I probably live closest at about 200km away.

If the plan is to have everyone having dinner together, is the restaurant open to anyone, or guests only?
Dauntless;12118 wroteThat seems excessively expensive. Will there be a more budget friendly alternative?

If not, I might just drive up for the day.
I is also keen for keeping costs down.

What deal can they do on a triple room? What couple whats to share with me? giggity giggity

Ergo...

Maybe bring a packed lunch and a box of cornflakes.

Bring the gimp suit....
I imagine the restaurant is open to all.
For how much fuel the Wagon uses it puts me off with my other expenses this year. But I tentivly saying yes

I'd split a room with you Brendan. But in any case, I think I picked literally the nicest accommodation in Parkes.

There's the Parkview Motor Inn which is $90/night. I reckon we could do that and then go into town (literally 2 blocks away) for food.
We could all congregate at the Parkes bowlo for lawn bowls and beer.

Sounds good
I am running the bathurst trip at the end of the month so this should work out well

I'm in for whatever for hotel/motel, nicer is better IMHO as the misses will murder all of us if there is a single roach

The first place I mentioned is properly expensive. This second place looks alright and is half the price. TripAdvisor ranks it 4th out of 15 hotels in Parkes.

I know we have a group here with differing priorities, so I'm shopping around for a nice place at a good price. I'm e-mailing all the motels directly trying to secure group rates based on 21 people / 14 rooms.

Edit...
I just looked at the dates
I'm going to be at M$ tech-ed from 9-12th in the gold coast
what time are we planning to start on the 13th?
