Wont that just result in a shit tonne of fuel being recirculated through the system? I would imagine this would just heat the fuel up because its being passed through the lines past a hot engine and being dumped back into the tank instead of being burnt. Also I would also imagine the pressure would be dropped but the volume wont be increased. Youd be much better off just changing the pump for something that is suitable.

Exactly. It's why I have a high volume, low pressure pump, even reducing a facet to 4psi from 8 is a restriction. Though you would use a return line like on an efi car.

Because it's mechanical. They are prone to cavitate, it's a backwards step to take on any good car and it's very anorak to do. The turbo swap your doing James is not original, so who cares if it's not a 2.1 and all original parts, it will start easier with a mechanical pump and go better too with a 2.3

Where would you put a mechanical pump on a B motor? Is that what that little diamond plate on the side of the block is for?

Fuel return on a carby car can be very helpful. It greatly reduces the chance of vapour lock, and supplies cooler fuel to the regulator.

B21A Carbies were supplied via a pump driven off the intermediate shaft. On 240 blocks there is a triangular blanking plate with 2 bolts (between ign distributor and inlet manifold) and this was the pump location.

There is carby 240s out there, last I saw was a 1983 240 (in Cooma NSW).

Another question for you, I know the intermediate shaft on K-Jet Bxx engines has the lobe needed to drive the fuel pump, but does that lobe need to be machined for use?

Inspected an intermediate shaft, and the pump lobe is factory machined and ready to go.
