  • Just bought a 240+T. What's next?


G'day people,

I've just bought a turbo 240 with over 300 000 kms on the motor. It all seems ok and runs well so no complaints there. My question is, what would you all do after purchase (major service stuff) to keep everything healthy? What do you check? What do i keep an eye on?

the car is basically stock apart from king springs, 2.5 exhaust and intercooler. running 12psi too
I believe the bloke who put it all together is Nathan Senior? don't know if he is on here, if so, i have your old car
I'm Nathan, but I didn't put it together. I bought it from Elliot, did a tiny amount of work on it, drove it very little and sold it to Mitch.
It was a solid car with a few niggles when I owned it. I believe Mitch sorted most of them.

If you dont know the last time the following things were done
Then do them
Pcv
Timing belt
T belt tensioner
Water pump
Front seals
Trans oil
Diff oil

Yeah mitch is a good lad, drove from Goulburn to Coffs harbour no hicups except for split in the radiator hose that i patched (temporary) and kept going. noisy 5th gear but when it goes ill go a t5 i think. its a nice car but yeah, few niggling little issues but I'm still happy with it
That should have my alloy intercooler in it also. Had no idea it was for sale...

thats correct, wasn't for sale for long
5th is common
Trans needs to be overfilled or 5th does not get lubbed properly

No reverse lockout either
I have an uncut M46 shifter for it, that I've been trying to give to Mitch for months.

mate, the gearbox shifts easily and apparently fluid was done semi recently (6000kms-ish) do you think changing the oil and overfilling it would be beneficial at this point or is she on her way out?. gear noise in 5th and less intense in 3rd
