BTW, this is the section I was talking about in Benalla, which needs a wee bit of welding for reinforcement.

Fitted the rear sway bar and rear springs from a 240 so that involved changing the upper spring seat but driving so much nicer. Turn in is fantastic although there is a little bit of a body roll left. I may need to adjust the shocks.

they're sitting in a metal bin at voldat at the moment I can arrange something with @AshDVS needs them.

Im planning to get that part strengthened soon but hopefully it won't crack in the meantime :#

There is no issue with body roll with good tyres, once it's eliminated you start losing compliance.

Time for an update.

Past few months have been relatively smooth sailing after believing the welsh plug issue had been solved it was smooth sailing with a few trips down to Portsea and Lorne without any hiccups. However it had a leaking welsh plug which blew but hoping that its all been sorted now.

What ive done
- Tied rod replacement
- Electric fan and original radiator
- Machined Front rotors and new pads. Made a hell of a difference just need to do the rears to shut the hideous squealing up.
- Paint Brake callipers (extra 20hp)

- Replace vacuum heater tap with Holden vn tap

- New muffler and resonator

- New wheels

The muffler has turned out absolutely atrocious. I previously had just removed the rear muffler and whilst it was obnoxiously loud there was no resonating on the freeway at all.... Now it drones loudly at anything above 90. They put a resonator In after the muffler which has just quietened it but it still sounds like sh*t. I also question why the resonator is after the muffler. my thoughts is that would affect the Falcon exhaust note.

so it turns out ill be learning how to weld so I can fix it. should've just left it without the muffler 500 dollars later :angry:

Not really worth an update given how much further other people are going with their projects but none the less a big improvement has been made replacing all my tie rods making the steering extremely tight and stopped some bump steer. Next step to the alignment shop.

The rods included came with a cvi order I made which was well appreciated once arrived with some random bits and pieces including an original key which I have been after for a while.

My next steps are:
- to establish what is causing my warm start issue
- consider adding an oil cooler
- alternator upgrade
- fit some better bolstered seats
- Brake lines either upgrade to braided if budget permits
- start looking at a megasquirt plan
- fix that exhaust note
- learning how to weld

Looking good! I recently bought one of those new gear knobs for my 1800ES - small change but it feels so nice and smooth! :) Not to mention the white lettering is nice and crisp white. Not sure how long it will stay that way though with greasy hands from working on the car LOL!

@carnut222 they're definitely visually and physically a lot better. Hopefully it's has longevity factored into the production. I need some new bushes in the shift linkage to really make it feel nice shifting but its a good level of notch in my opinion.

@Ghettobird keen to go to nats as long as I can have confidence ill make it there and back and get the cruising economy under 14L/100km

I drove my 164 from Cooma to Goulburn with the fuel that was in it, about 1/4 tank. Was going heaps faster than 90 though

doubt ill have the patience to drive at 90km/h haha theres something not right somewhere in the d jet. ill endeavour to get it resolved soon. hoping that replacing both in tank and external fuel filters will resolve the issue and allow me to drop the fuel pressure to what it should be

To be fair, if you spend $400 on fuel there and back, vs $100, it's a lot of money for a weekend.

I discovered reading the green book that a filter exists in the tank where the suction line draws in fuel. I was unaware that this existed given it is not well documented. I was unsurprised to see that it appears to be original and either had a hole or developed one when I removed it. I struggled to get the new filter completely up on the suction line so the fibre filter is compacted when I screwed the drain plug back in. I hope this will not be detrimental

I hope that this has something to do with the hot start issue (will check fuel pressure after my exams). The fuel pump is significantly quieter on priming when switched to ignition so its probably working less hard. A note to anyone with a 140/164 or early 240 up to 78(I believe). This filter should be changed if the replacement date is unknown.
