After a tough tedious time I've completed my a/c retrofit provided there are no leaks and the orifice tube is correct for the application (its a black one)
I decided to essentially use a gm system putting a late 240 HVAC box with the big aluminium evaporator with the accumulator/orifice setup.
i implemented a 21*12 parallel flow condenser as it was the largest i could fit with significant modification or mucking around. i reverted to the viscous fan unfortunately as the 14" puller isn't up to the task of cooling the engine and a/c. unfortunately it wont sit in front of the condenser either so I'm look at other options for twin fans on the back of the radiator. would've liked a set of el thermos however they are a decent amount wider than the radiator. might look at a golf or possibly a small fwd car that will have smaller dimensions. open to suggestions.
Unfortunately the orifice tube protruded out from the 240 positioning and did not clear the grossly oversized brake booster so i had a fitting installed in line. Hoses were made by Enzed - i was told by an a/c expert that this was the wrong way to go after id had them done.
Charged with 240 grams of Hychill 10 grams more than a late 240. havent had a hot day to test it yet however it seems to blow nice and cool when in motion however not as good at an idle. i presume due to the lack of a condenser fan or possibly the choice of orifice tube. i may source a variable one at a later date if there is a slow leak.
annoyingly when the bloke charged the system the cycle switch was faulty so he had to bridge it inorder to charge it however ive got a brand new one on and functioning well however it doesn't seem to switch off at any point (maybe normal)
