Latest update is they referred it to Volvo in Sweden who said to try updating the SRS module software.
.. which I did of course mention when I took it in as the first thing to perhaps try, having read about that solving it for others

Well, credit to them - they have fixed it.
it needed an SRS module software update, and the SAS needed software too - @Philia_Bear probably the firmware downgrade you mentioned.
They said they also did a full “2.0 update” which I assume means updating all the modules so they can actually communicate. So perhaps the SAS was then upgraded again!
total a bit over $500 but at least it’ll be on the road again.
I think you can check which modules were upgraded if saved in vida if your curious. Havent recently done with P2 vehicle so cant step u through.
Yes, it should be under the software tab I'd think - when I last checked it had never had a single software update in all its life. Poor old bus.
Well, this is getting depressing!
Failed its inspection.
x1 worn front tyre (drivers side), Other front nearing the end.x1 worn rear tyreleaking at PS rack (not detail supplied as to where)drivers side front strut leakingHugely surprised at the strut, did these during the overhaul so they've done about 35,000km. Bilstein B4 / Touring, so a quality product too. To roll with an obvious pun.. I am shocked!
Front tyres I replaced perhaps 20,000 / 12-18 months ago (will check) so they did not last well. Continental Cross Contact's, 235/60/18's. Camber and toe looks alright to me and they seem to have worn pretty evenly.
But, those fixes are easy, the rack will be the tough job. I imagine it'll be something like the high pressure lines? Could of course be the rack itself. Bitch to get at. Subframe out job?
Bollocks!!
Ja, ist kaputt!
other side looks fine, guess I'll just replace the one side.
Rack looks pretty greasy but can't yet see where it's coming from.
So i'm getting busy pulling the subframe to access the rack, seems no other sensible way to do it.
Is there any value in having mine rebuilt or should I buy used (and where from.. I'd think Berry's but local pickup seems sensible) ?

I'm pretty sure I have a spare you can has for free, from an 04/05 T5 even....
otherwise, get a quote from sydney drive shaft in kings park
oh nice one @Philia_Bear, thank you.
I'll get the damn thing out first then see what I can see. Got new o-rings on the way. Pretty sure the rack has been replaced previously, if I recall PO's words..
well this is taking longer than I'd hoped!
I got totally stuck removing the top bolt from the turbo/downpipe. It just would not turn – made the rookie mistake of loosening the others first and after that it was stuffed. Might've been stuffed anyway, but who knows.
It's in such an awkward place (damned heat shield!!) that getting it out was a nightmare. In the end brute force resulted in snapped bolt, so now I have to extract that bugger before I can reassemble.
Or..... i guess find and whack a cheap 16T in there??

flat or angle housing?
or what actually broke?
angle housing (I think?), just one of the bolts has snapped off inside the actual housing - not flush so probably removable with better access and some vice grips.
Tons of Penetrene.
Vice grips never work.
Drill and extract the rest.

I have 5 or 6 spare angle housings
Also I looked and I already sold the steering rack, however if its the same as any other P2 and only difference is the inner/outer tie rods then I have like 5 of them
Well I've no idea @Philia_Bear!
I have P/N 30723825 listed as exchange for...
3074147630636297307643383120096831280335So should be a fair chance one fo those 6 will work! You have them all "on the shelf"? Could come up to you tomorrow/Fri if that suited.

Frame is out so i'm ready to get it done (argh. other than that damn turbo bolt..).
Not sure if the rack leak is from the shaft/top or just dead o-rings on the lines. Not really worth putting it back in with new o-rings to find out that's not it, though..!
I will do some part searching tonight
I've got quite a few still bolted to subframes that are out of cars so easy enough to compare and unbolt as needed
Thanks, you're a good 'un!
Omfg this car....
4ish hours later a stud was extracted
14t turbo with a 6cm angeled housing wtf
(Td04L)
Need to go back again tomorrow and sort out the vband for holding the center cartridge to the hotside
Then start bolting everything together....
By end of tomorrow the car will run or I will be dead
This is how I feel sometimes working on my brother in laws BMW...
I look for the light at the end of the tunnel... and hope that it's not a train
