No luck yet getting my DiCE to actually interface between VIDA and the the car. I can see it in the Win7 VM but it seems like it hasn't installed correctly.

If anyone has drivers for the DiCE could you please share? These seem to be quite hard to locate. Ta!

VIDA, DiCE and the old 90 are talking.

I used a newer Win10 VM in the end but think the key might’ve been enabling USB 3.0 in the VM via VirtualBox extensions add on.

I’ve had a poke about but will perhaps get better acquainted before posting here again. Making the windows go up and down from a browser is pretty cool ;)

Angle sensor in, calibrated and happy.

SRS still shitting itself - will not clear.

    hrrmph :(

    Codes for ref.

(wow, that image displays considerably bigger than source!)

Am I reading this right? It appears the fault is not occurring in the current cycle, assume that might mean it’s OK.

But why can’t I clear SRS codes if that’s the case?

Does it need a number of cycles to clear?

Yep that’s right. Hear I may need to clear ECM (or was it CEM?) specifically first and then SRS - I know you can select and then choose “Erase SRS” for example.

I’ve got the center console apart to give the SRS module connectors a blast of contact cleaner just in case that helps. I’ll also see if I can sort out the sticky radio button while I’m about it with the -ve cable off.

I’ve also heard a battery disconnect might help allow the SRS to clear but I’m not confident.

So to be clear - the green light should mean I can clear, at least in theory?

Which perhaps points to software or the SRS module itself. My guess is it’s going to Volvo for a software reload.

i bought twof my Volvos for very cheap because of broken alternators, car battery runs flat and owner thinks the car is dead.

I stripped out some interior and checked to see if there had been any issue with water/coffee ingress to the SRS module, looked in perfect clean shape. Gave the connector a spray with contact cleaner anyway.

Cleaned out the filth inside the air quality sensor, not sure if that helped or not.

Fixed the sticky button on the stereo panel, or rather it appeared to fix itself – no longer stuck pressed in. Perhaps something got lodged in there and simply removing the unit was enough to shake it loose.

Reassembled, battery back on, still got an SRS message and can't clear it.

So guess I will book in with Moss Vale Volvo and hold my wallet very tightly.

You want to try a teamviewer session with me first on friday to see if I can do something?

Also... you want a known good airbag to try with it to see if its not just the bag?

@Philia_Bear cheers Mike, that's really good of you.

I'm sure the airbag would be worth checking, but unless you are heading down this way? :) I had another but sold it a while back in a job lot with a load of those S60 bits I had.. typical!

Teamviewer would be good (or Google hangs, or zoom, or... any of those guys making a few bucks right now!) – only issue is time because I've got VIDA on my wife's lappy, which she uses for work 3 days a week.. including Fridays!

      When would suit?

I can do in the evening or this weekend etc I'm flexible!

You are allowed to visit someone as of Friday so if your up for the drive I have the spare airbag here etc

Pm me, I'll give you my mobile and we can have a chat and work it from there

@Philia_Bear ah you see the problem is the rego is up! Otherwise yeah i'd be happy to drive up. I could come for the bag but not bring the 90.

might have your mobile from way back, unless it has changed. Will give you a bell tomorrow.

So.. I'm lucky my work is manic, but that meant I didn't get a chance for another look Fri-Sun, and so the car went to Volvo on Monday morning as i'd booked it in last week.

I told them when i phoned to book that it has an SRS issue. Also told them I had just replaced the Steering Angle Sensor because as @timbo mentioned the airbag wiring passes through that module, and I knew it'd be first on their list and they'd charge up the bum for it.

I made sure to tell them again when dropping off and asked if i should talk to the tech just to make it all clear.

“No, i’ll tell them what you tell me” - gatekeeping, which I get but I also know how this goes..

      2 days later…

“tech wants to know – did you say you replaced the SRS module or the steering angle sensor?”

      - - - -

Mixed messages – on first day they said "yes the SRS module needed software which has cleared the code but not the light (?!?). Said they would remove the module under center console and test directly with their diagnostic machine.

Next day they said "there might be some software for the SRS module". Err..

Also told me something like they can clear the intermittent errors if they disconnect the airbag’s primary stage wiring, but that causes a permanent error on secondary stage . I guess that figures.

Suffice to say not expecting a quick, easy or necessarily cheap resolution.

Latest update is they referred it to Volvo in Sweden who said to try updating the SRS module software.

.. which I did of course mention when I took it in as the first thing to perhaps try, having read about that solving it for others

Well, credit to them - they have fixed it.

it needed an SRS module software update, and the SAS needed software too - @Philia_Bear probably the firmware downgrade you mentioned.

They said they also did a full “2.0 update” which I assume means updating all the modules so they can actually communicate. So perhaps the SAS was then upgraded again!

total a bit over $500 but at least it’ll be on the road again.

I think you can check which modules were upgraded if saved in vida if your curious. Havent recently done with P2 vehicle so cant step u through.

Yes, it should be under the software tab I'd think - when I last checked it had never had a single software update in all its life. Poor old bus.

      Well, this is getting depressing!

      Failed its inspection.

x1 worn front tyre (drivers side), Other front nearing the end.x1 worn rear tyreleaking at PS rack (not detail supplied as to where)drivers side front strut leaking

Hugely surprised at the strut, did these during the overhaul so they've done about 35,000km. Bilstein B4 / Touring, so a quality product too. To roll with an obvious pun.. I am shocked!

Front tyres I replaced perhaps 20,000 / 12-18 months ago (will check) so they did not last well. Continental Cross Contact's, 235/60/18's. Camber and toe looks alright to me and they seem to have worn pretty evenly.

But, those fixes are easy, the rack will be the tough job. I imagine it'll be something like the high pressure lines? Could of course be the rack itself. Bitch to get at. Subframe out job?

      Bollocks!!
