A couple weeks back we installed new genuine arm rests to replace the beat up originals that were losing their outer layer. The driver's door card is moisture damaged (the moisture barrier wax paper stuff was all perished) but the other door cards are fine, so hopefully we'll eventually get hold of a replacement door card. We're going to replace all the moisture barriers with plastic ones in due course.
At some point in the last two years the driver's side strut top gland nut came loose (not really sure how, the nyloc was still good). This caused a lot of clunking and deformed the top of the strut insert just enough that the strut top and insert became well and truly seized together. The person who was taking care of this car while it's owner was overseas really should have called me to tell me there was an enormous suspension clunk, but that never happened so who knows how long this has been going on.
The result is I had to get medieval on the strut (mostly because I wanted the bump stop intact).
Otherwise, Buttercup got new strut tops and new brake hoses all around, plus fresh oil and filter. The pictures tell the story.
I'm just waiting for a replacement strut to arrive and then this car will be out of my life again for a while.
