My 04 was plastic. Should be obvious if youve had the covers off.

How tight should these fuel pump and sender collars be in Nm? Read one procedure that said 60Nm, sounds a bit tight to me. Perhaps that was for a metal tank version in the US. Just doing some final checks before interior goes back. Seems I’ve got rid of the remaining smell. Thanks.
Anyway - Nm torque spec if anyone knows. Currently mine at 20Nm and no leaks. Thanks.

crikey, think i just did mine "tight" – definitely did not measure it.

I crank them up with a 1/2" breaker bar definitely more than 20nm

I did it by feel too. Make sure the thread is clean and tighten until you can feel the o-ring engage then some more until its it feels firm.

Thanks. I shall give some more Newton-metres. Feels very solid and good at moment. Only trick is the more I tighten the more the pump and the sender wants to turn with the collar.

Trick is to have it maybe 15- 30° before the alignment mark so that it's lined up once you tighten it.

And that's where the risk of rolling or binding up the o-ring comes in.. so greasing up the o-ring is important.

Stupid bloody thing moved half a mile on me. Time to pull it all apart again.
