blondejay;105165 wrotenow if im thinking right, im putting fc/fd calipers on the 142.
FC/ FD calipers??
which will require new mounts/adapters. whats stopping me from making the new adapter to suit a 200 rotor?
FEAR! (not really, just joking there).
Absolutely nothing is stopping you, if you'll pardon the pun, from making the adapters line up to fit a different disc, like a 240 disc. Rightly or wrongly, I'd presumed that you wanted something factory and OE straight off the shelf - like 164 vented discs and calipers - to put on your car. I'm going to use 164 ATE calipers and vented discs on Project Clyde (white 74 142) and see how they work out, then will probably do the same for Project Chloe (74 145). So 240 discs ain't gonna work for me.
But if you're going to non-factory option-calipers with adapters, it opens up your disc options too. You don't have to be restricted to a 240 disc; you could use something as good, or better, and probably cheaper and easier to get.
