Well I've decided to move from the 90s back to the 70s. Where I'm much more comfortable. Always had 70s holdens so looking forward to this project.

Paid for the old girl, will pick her up in 2 to 3 weeks.

Rust removal, stage zero, rego and then off we go.

What a loverly old thing. Nice to hear a holden fan appreciating fine swedish metal also. I always thought holden ppl would dislike volvos. I grew up in a bogan town so pro holden and anti volvo was normal.

I liked Aussie and American cars as a kid, but my family had Volvo's and I naturally ended up getting into them. Later I ended up working for a Holden dealer and started to appreciate some things about GM products and now all my daily drivers are GM cars, and I have an HX Holden in the shed alongside several classic Volvo's.

There are several other people on the forum who have both Holden's and Volvo's.

@bigal @Angus242164 my grandparents had a 245 and 265 so I grew up in the back of those waving at traffic in the 7th seat. Loved it. Have had multiple kingswoods and statesmans but always kept a soft spot for Volvos.

Exactly, I know this feeling well. My 142 is the slowest, most uncomfortable and hardest to drive and well the smiles per mile are constant.

@blondejay haha yeah I'm definitely not after speed with this one. I had a 1978 mx32 cressida which was lowered on gold mesh wheels and barely hit 90 on the renewal but was one of the most fun cars I've owned. Pretty much going for the same thing with this.

My parents had a '78 Cressida wagon before they had Volvo's, they weren't uncommon back then in the late '80's-early '90's, but they're a rare sight now.

Okay so judging by this table

I can fit Volans from my 850R to the 144.

However the offset is quite a way off. Will they actually fit without spacers? I'm not overly fussed if they don't as I will sell the wheels and find some older volvo wheels or some gold mesh with polished lip 14/15/16s.

Yeah it's not uncommon to see fwd wheels on 1series with no adaptors.
