There's a place called Tasca in the states (I'm sure some of you know of the place), they sell genuine volvo parts and appear to have the 145 roof rack in stock so logged a ticket with them to confirm stock and a price to get it to Aus. Will let you know how I go.
Can't wait to strap some old empty brown leather suitcases to it and be a total vintage car nerd.
Next thing will be some old school front grille badges.

@Tassie6er Check this out. I ordered 1 roof rack as I didn't want to miss out on the offer on my screen. It appears it's still available though so I suggest ordering one. I paid via paypal so it's hard for them to weasle out of this. Will use my paypal rights if required.

I bet they're having a swear at the pelican head office. Gotta be a big malfunction. I honestly can't see it happening but if I manage to get it for $1 then that's gotta be the bargin of the century.

Pelican parts emailed back and said they didn't calculate shipping and will be an extra $35USD. I think I can live with that. All up $36 USD for a genuine volvo 145 roof rack!
That's just crazy!

Finally got the link from Pelican Parts to pay the extra $35 USD for shipping and all paid now. Just a matter of waiting for it to turn up. Still in disbelief.

I'm guessing this roof rack (if it turns up) will be in a dismantled state (a long narrow box) and I put it together myself.

"Payment has been received ,and sent to be processed., the part is special ordered and has a week lead time. As soon as it is ready for to ship we will send you email confirmation."

You realise how hard we're going to laugh when you find out you paid $35 to ship a photo of a roof-rack? :p
If this turns out to be the real deal, this is the greatest catch in history!

When it arrives I will be interested in taking pictures and measurement of the kit to see how hard it would be to build as a copy. They are cool, but also the design looks copyable with some basic tools?

Ha yeah just doesnt seem real. I think someone in sweden is digging up the 40+ year old plans now and getting to it. Here's the latest update from Pelican..
"Thank you for your recent order with Pelican Parts. Your order containing the following parts has been delayed due to an unexpected increase in the normal lead time.
281376-VOL - Volvo Genuine Part, Brand: Volvo"
Then they go on to say they have some of the parts which they can send now or wait til they all arrive and send then. If I don't respond they will send in one lot when they have the entire kit ready.
I will say nothing and wait.
Brilliant idea @1971_144GL . Sell some copies at half the price (50cents). I would be interested in assisting. I have a thing for old school roof racks.
